Hi folks..

This June, me and my good mate Carl are attempting the 100 hole hike around / . In short, it’s 100 holes of golf in one day. Now you may think thats just me in my dream spare time situation, but thats 5 1/2 rounds, 50-55km walked, potentially 440 shots, tens of thousands of steps and a fair few calories.

I am raising as much money as possible for Mind, who do so much amazing work & research into Altzheimers & Dementia as well as others.

The cost of living crisis has hit us, so raising anything is really tough, so anything will really help.

In addition, every birdie made during the day, I will add an additional £10 to the final tally.

Things getting shaky with your team? Quiet staff rooms?
Ebbs and flows of staff volume/numbers & morale is natural when we smash creative minded people into what can often be a confined space. Some team members move on of their own free will & development, but when things go awry with the team, clients raise eyebrows at price rises & there’s a reluctance to follow basic principles, it’s important to be mindful that you - as the salon owner - are the barometer of change.
The approach you have towards management of your team members can be the difference between them working for the betterment of your brand, or doing the opposite.

A year ago today & after a *hilariously* large legal bill, the new Whitworth Street Creative Studio started to become a reality. I still have a bad back from that fit out.

Please be mindful that just because social media doesn’t stop, it doesn’t mean we as stylists, business owners & entrepreneurs cannot.

Grateful for what I created. Grateful for my team on my first day back in salon. Grateful that I can carry the franchise in & show him something I’m too much of a control freak to let him take over.

Today marks my last day behind the chair at WSCS for four weeks of paternity leave.
Life will be pretty hectic, but I will do my best to respond to messages in due time.

You really can achieve whatever you put your mind to. A while ago, someone made a quip about how & why I had my first salon, HiveMCR, but the new Whitworth Street Creative Studio represents sixteen hours days, seven day weeks, bloodied hands, sore backs, financial anxiety, but most importantly, new levels of support and help from friends.

Every day, I’m grateful for those who have supported me, despite my capacity to be unbearable. The love of my life, Anna who doesn’t even have Facebook, who spent time away from his family on Sundays to help out, & Andy for being unimaginably generous with their time, the amazing staff at B&Q and the team at .

I can honestly say I’m in the salon I always dreamt of having.

Everything I ever wanted my own spot to be.
