The Golden Oldies
They may not work as hard in these later years but they still need massage help . As we get older we all know joints aren’t what they used to be. Keeping a healthy muscle structure helps these joints comfortable. These muscles need help with circulation to help with mobility and stability.
Let’s not forget the older generation . All these horses and ponies are well into twenties and still enjoying their life ❤️

Mounted Games
I just love treating these little pocket rockets.
These ponies love their job and are also very stoic! Their owners are always surprised by the results of my diagnostic tests showing muscle tension! The quick acceleration, turning and abrupt changes of pace takes its toll . I’m lucky to treat all of these ponies ❤️

Dressage
These horses also work very hard but again in very different ways.
They perform lots of lateral work requiring flexibility throughout and must work correctly in the contact and back . Core strength is the key and making sure all the muscle groups are healthy shows in their performance.

The Hunters
Another group of horses that work really hard but in different ways. These horses work all day on different terrain, jumping fences with drops and ditches! Their muscles take a lot on and by keeping them massaged regularly they are kept comfortable and ready for another day’s work! Lucky to have such amazing clients.

“Just a massage therapist.”
Those words get thrown around far too lightly.

I promise there’s nothing “just” about what we do. Every session is built on solid foundations, anatomy, biomechanics, pathology, and a deep understanding of how pain, compensation, workload, and management all link together. Massage therapy is good solid training, ongoing CPD, educated hands that can feel what’s changing in the body, and the professional judgement to know when treatment is appropriate, and sometimes more importantly when it isn’t.

It’s more about spotting the quiet signs before they become loud problems. Working alongside vets, farriers, and trainers as part of a wider rehabilitation or performance plan. We are helping horses stay comfortable, move better, and cope with the demands placed on them, whether that’s elite sport or everyday life.

Massage therapy isn’t a luxury. It isn’t guesswork, and it definitely isn’t something you can dismiss with the word “just.” So next time you hear that phrase, pause for a minute. Because behind it sits skill, science, experience, and accountability.

👀 And there is absolutely nothing “just” about that.
