✨ Marlow Community Against Cancer – Launch Night ✨

I’m delighted to share that the wonderful Marlow Community Against Cancer calendar, inspired by the much-loved Calendar Girls spirit, will be celebrating its launch on 17th October at Liston Court.

The launch evening promises to be a lovely occasion, celebrating everyone involved and the generosity, courage and community spirit that have helped bring this calendar to life.

🎟️ Tickets are free, but must be allocated in advance to ensure that numbers remain within the venue’s health and safety capacity. Further details on how to secure your place will be shared soon.

There will also be a silent auction, with some wonderful donations kindly gifted by generous local businesses.

I’m personally very happy to be able to contribute by offering a Japanese facial treatment, providing an opportunity for someone to enjoy a little well-deserved pampering, relaxation and self-care, in support of this wonderful event and the charity behind it. 🌸

Every donation, contribution and gesture of support, no matter how big or small, can make a real difference. It’s heartwarming to see our local community come together in this way, united by a shared purpose and a desire to make a positive impact.

So… I finally did it! 😂🤎

A little birthday brow glow-up with the lovely Natalie at The Marlow Club.

Having known Natalie as a friend and former work colleague, it was so lovely to catch up, reminisce about our Sunrise days and have a good old natter while she worked her magic. 🌅

Natalie is an absolute perfectionist — so professional, incredibly precise and just lovely at what she does. And the treatment… well, almost painless! 🙌🏼

Thank goodness for numbing cream… because apparently beauty does NOT have to mean suffering! 😂

The colour match is spot on and I’m honestly so happy with how natural they look. Just my brows… but better! 🤎

Phase one done ✔️ and now we wait for the top-up in a few weeks.

🎀 WHY I’M GETTING MYSELF INTO A CALENDAR… AND WHY YOU SHOULD TOO! 🎀

So, here’s the backstory…

At 27, Ilost my dad to bowel cancer, and breast cancer has touched the lives of so many friends, clients and people I love. So when an opportunity came along to do something fun, slightly ridiculous, and genuinely worthwhile, I couldn’t say no. ❤️

Helen and I go way back to my Sunrise Health & Beauty days. In fact, our friendship began after I had to rescue her eyebrows from a rather unfortunate therapist-related incident involving a tint… and the words “Why are my eyebrows BLUE?” 😂💙

Thankfully, Helen survived the trauma, entrusted her brows to me for many years, and we became lovely clients/friends along the way.

Fast forward a few years and we found ourselves doing Pilates teasers, downward dogs and generally questioning our life choices at the crack of dawn on Fridays at Pugins with our amazing teacher Dee. 🧘‍♀️😂

Helen shared that her husband was battling cancer and spoke passionately about raising awareness and fundraising for cancer research.

I desperately wanted to help in some way… and then along came the F**k Cancer Campaign Community Calendar! 🙌

Helen’s Glee Choir friends were asked to create a Calendar Girls-style calendar to raise money for ongoing cancer research. Alongside other wonderful local community groups, our month is OCTOBER — which feels particularly fitting because it’s also the month of my BIG 50! 🎂🥂

So there you have it…

I’ve swapped my dignity for a good cause and am officially calendar material. 😜

More than 100 people have taken part in a special calendar photoshoot organised by Marlow Community Against Cancer. Inspired by the “Calendar Girls”, it will feature local community groups stripping off, with props appropriately placed to just about protect the participants’ modesty! Marlow Town Band, Marlow FM, Glee Club, Round Table, Marlow Rowing Club, Marlow Football Club and many more groups and individuals were involved.

The photos shared here are fully clothed “behind the scenes” shots of rehearsals - you will have to wait for the full reveal of the actual, somewhat less dressed photos!!
