Nothing prepares you for planning maternity leave when you're self-employed.

I'll start by saying I couldn't be any more grateful for the journey of getting to grow our baby boy. That will always be the number one fact of it all.

But nothing prepares you for the feeling of letting clients down, the feeling of losing everything you've worked so hard to build, the feeling of not knowing if there will be anyone or anything to return to eventually or if you're going to have to start from scratch all over again.

Years of learning, practising, experimenting, growing, always evolving.

Building friendships with clients who were once strangers and came to you with their trust and hopes for what you could transform their hair and confidence into.

Yes, of course I want to return, how soon? I don't know. What if I can't bear to leave my boy once he's here? What if I don't remember how to do hair as greatly as I do now? What if nobody wants my services anymore?

It's all so daunting!

With all that said, and a very heavy heart. I won't be booking any appointments for after 31st July, that will be my last working day.
Between pregnancy, chronic pain, steroid dependency, and the summer months, it isn't a great concoction, and I have to prioritise mine and my boys' well-being.

I can't thank you all enough for the love, support, kindness, trust, friendships, secrets & loyalty you have all shown me over the last five years. Words will never explain just how grateful I am to do a job that I adore.

With lots of love and tears in my eyes, I'm going to have to slow down on my workload 🥹
I am no longer accepting any new clients.
Why?
Because it would be unfair for me to begin something I can not commit to for more than 6-8 more weeks, and that's not how I work. I wouldn't be able to commit to your professional maintenance appointments due to upcoming maternity leave, and again, this would not be fair on you as a client and is not something I would do, if I begin a job/relationship, I give it my all and see it through; but that isn't something I can do right now.
Thank you first and foremost if you've thought of me, booked with me, recommended me, and everything in between. I will never take for granted the amazing job that I get to do.
But for now, I have to recognise it's time to begin slowing down a little 🤍
