What has been brewing at the workshop this week? This little beauty always fills the workshop with a divine rosy aromaโœจ ๐ŸŒน There is nothing more pleasant than working with pure rose oil. In this blend, we've combined the queen of flowers with gorgeous golden oils of raspberry, jojoba and rosehip for potent skin care and nourishment. Not only is this oil a delighful moisturiser, it's aroma makes your mind wander to a warm, fragrant valley of sunshine and rose petals, where all feels peaceful and right with the world...
I love working with these botanical treasures ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒฟ

Guess what I've been up to today! Our liquid African black soap is a high quality, skin friendly, ecological soap made in s l o w motion ๐Ÿ‘Œ There is nothing quick about making liquid black soap. Firstly, I combine African black soap with organic rosewater and allow them to meld. Then I gently agitate the mixture over a period of at least six weeks. Once the soap has reached a beautiful glossy, creamy consistency that looks like melted chocolate, I triple filter it. Then it is ready to pour and bottle, by hand. There is nothing automated and nothing industrial about this process! These beauties will soon be on their way to our wonderful customers in Sweden ๐Ÿ˜

I've been very busy making lots of these beauties today! Shea butter nilotica is a really nice butter to work with, it is naturally much softer than it's West African relative, which by comparison is quite solid. Shea butter nilotica has a naturally soft, buttery texture making it a bit easier to apply than west African shea. It's aroma is a little more honey like. Both butters are truly fantastic moisturisers for any dry skin issues. Look at the finish and colour of this natural butter! ๐Ÿ‘Œ

We've bought quite a lot of shea butter in the last 20 years. Like any natural ingredient, it can certainly vary from harvest to harvest. It can vary slightly in texture, colour and aroma. I think the stars have aligned for this batch, it is absolutely gorgeous! A beautiful vanilla ice cream colour, soft aroma and silky texture. It might be one of the nicest batches we've ever had. Such a beautiful butter.

We turn 23 years old today, happy birthday to us! I started Akamuti from my kitchen in 2003 after falling in love with herbs and oils. I wanted to share the medicine, folklore and stories of all the plants and botanicals we use - I'm still on that quest. For well over half my life, I've been immersed in a world of beeswax, botanicals, butters and aromatics. What an honour! Thank you so much to our very loyal customers, family, friends and colleagues for supporting me on this journey. Forever grateful ๐Ÿ™

Look at the gorgeous colour of this oil, it looks just like liquid sunshine๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŒž I really enjoyed bottling this lovely argan oil. This is a wonderfully nourishing oil which is fantastic for all over body and facial moisturising. It also finds it's way into every single hair oil we make because it's just so good! ๐ŸŒฟ Have you tried it?

What will you be feeding your skin this summer?๐ŸŒž
Let's look into the amazing virtues of organic cocoa butter๐Ÿค“ ๐Ÿซ˜ ๐Ÿซ
This beautiful butter is a powerhouse of botanical goodness - home to vitamin E, essential fatty acids and polyphenols. It is a particularly good moisturiser for dry, sun kissed or windswept skin, so if you spend lots of time outdoors, this is one of the best butters to try. Rich in nutrients essential for skin repair, it is a fantastic emollient for dry, hungry skin, while sinking into the skin very nicely. We love working with it because it fills the workshop with divine chocolatey aromas๐Ÿ˜‹ It smells SO good. Try some after your next shower and watch your skin lap it up ๐Ÿ‘Œ
