The main reason why oil is harmful to eyelash extensions is that it breaks down the adhesive used to bond the extension to the natural lash. When oils come into contact with the adhesive, it weakens its bond, leading to the extension detaching from the natural lash. It's also important to clean your lashes to prevent the build-up of dirt. Dirt can harbour bacteria, which can have a negative impact on the health of your natural lashes and impede their growth.
