Confession… my own nails had become a gardening casualty

Gardening season has absolutely finished them off lately.
Wet gloves, soil, chipped corners… and maybe a bit of “I’ll sort them later” energy.

Proof that real life happens to nails , even nail tech nails.

Today I finally gave them some attention -
a tidy up, a layer of CND Shaper for a little strength, my favourite spring colour and lashings of solar oil.

Amazing how much better you feel after a tiny bit of self care.

Are there days when you wonder if your nails will ever recover?

Last week one of my lovely long-term clients came in with a broken wrist after an accident a few weeks ago.

So we adapted things a little 🩷

We shortened the nails on the healing hand to keep things practical and comfortable, and added a cheerful bright pink to the other because sometimes a little colour can genuinely lift your mood.

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that appointments aren’t always just about nails.

Sometimes they’re about routine, comfort, conversation and having one small normal thing in the middle of everything else life throws at you.

And honestly… bright pink helps 🩷🩷🩷

You’d be surprised how much those few minutes either side of your appointment can make a difference to your experience.

My little “sweet spot” is 2–3 minutes early, it gives us time to say hello, get you settled, and start your treatment feeling calm (not rushed).

Arriving right on time sounds perfect… but in reality, we often lose a few minutes getting you comfy.

And for my lovely early birds - I truly appreciate the enthusiasm 🩷 but those in-between moments are often my only chance to pause, grab a drink, or reset before the next client.

That said… you’re never “in the way” - there’s always a way to make it work . If you’re really early, why not message me and if I’m not quite ready, chill in the garden and enjoy the peace and quiet. 🩷🩷🩷

A little life update

After many years of full diaries, busy weeks and lots of lovely clients, I’ve decided to slowly ease myself into semi-retirement.

That means my working week is changing from 4 days to 3 days.

I’ll still be offering the same services, same care, same chats, same me… just with a few less hours behind the desk.

With reduced availability, appointments may be a little harder to come by, so if you like to stay a regular, I’d really recommend booking ahead where possible. Many clients are now booking around 3 months in advance.

This next chapter is about creating a little more balance - more time for new hobbies, more time in the garden, and more time with the people I love.

You’ve supported me through the highs and lows, through pandemics, recessions, and all the personal moments that make up real life. Your loyalty, kindness and continued support have meant more than I can ever properly put into words, and I’ll be forever grateful 🩷🩷🩷

I’ve been doing Julie’s nails for over a decade…
and every now and then, she brings someone very special with her…
her mum, who used to be a regular too, but like so many things, life changes.
So a few times a year, she makes the time to treat her 💗

This time, they decided to match - pink, sparkly, and ready for a party

Arthur takes his role very seriously - whether that’s greeting clients, supervising lunch breaks, or keeping a close eye on absolutely nothing of concern.

He’s a big part of the calm, cosy feel here… but I always respect that not everyone is a dog person, so he only joins us when he’s welcome.
