25 years ago, I remember exactly where I was when the terrible news of 9/11 began to unfold.

I was just 17 years old, travelling home in a taxi with my newborn baby, who was only 7 days old. I remember hearing the first reports on the radio and, as soon as I got home, turning on the television.

What I saw was unimaginable. I watched in disbelief as the situation went from bad to worse, including the horrifying moment the second plane hit the second tower.

What made it feel even more surreal was that just a year and a half earlier, I had stood at the top of the World Trade Center myself.

I still remember the kindest young girl who served us on the top floor that day. Over the years I have often wondered about her… was she working there on September 11th? Did she make it home safely?

It is something that has stayed with me ever since.

Today, 25 years later, I remember the innocent lives lost, the families whose lives changed forever, the bravery of the emergency services, and everyone affected by that devastating day.

May they never be forgotten. 🇺🇸🕊️🙏
