As most of you know (and for those who don’t), I’ve been off with a serious back and neurological issue that genuinely stopped me walking and had me pretty much bed-bound. And in alot of pain, I haven’t been at work since Christmas, which has been huge for me and for all of you waiting.

I want to say first – thank you. Truly. The messages, the patience, the offers of help, the kindness… it’s honestly made me cry more than once. You are a bloody lovely bunch of women.

I’m not 100% better yet – I want to be really honest about that – but I am better enough to start working my way through the backlog. And at this stage, getting better actually means I do need to start gently training my body to move again… just not at the pace I used to work.

So for the time being:
• I’ll be sitting down to foil
• I’ll be doing part heads rather than full heads
• Rough dries only (no full blow dries just yet)
• I’ll be pacing myself at around one client a day
• If you’ve got very long / very thick hair or a big job booked, I’ll be in touch to reshuffle things, because I physically can’t put that level of demand on my body yet

For anyone booked over the next couple of weeks with bigger jobs – please don’t panic, I will contact you. It’s just going to be more spread out than usual rather than me doing two or three clients a day like I normally would.

Some of you also know I was meant to be going to Dubai at the end of February – that’s now been cancelled. There is absolutely no chance I can sit on a seven-hour flight right now, let alone anything else. The upside is that it does give me more space in the diary, just at a slower, more sensible pace.

Please know this isn’t me “rushing back” or being daft – it’s me listening to my body properly and doing what I need to do to recover long-term.

Thank you all so much for your patience. You honestly are amazing, and it’s taken a massive weight off my shoulders knowing how supportive you’ve all been (even though yes… I still worry, because that’s me 🙈).

And just so you know – none of you have been forgotten. My dreams for weeks have been about your grey roots… so trust me, you’ve all been on my mind 😂

As a colour technician, one of my absolute favourite services to do is a blended blonde foilage. It’s that perfect middle ground between traditional foiling and balayage — a technique that gives my clients that seamless, sun-kissed, low-maintenance blonde they’re after, without harsh lines or over-processed ends.

When a client sits in my chair asking for something bright but natural, foilage is usually what I recommend. I start by sectioning the hair strategically and using foils to really lift the blonde — that’s where the “foil” part comes in. But unlike traditional highlights, I blend the lightener up with a feathered or teased technique, creating that softer transition from root to blonde. It’s more diffused, and it grows out beautifully without harsh regrowth lines.

What makes the blonde blended is all in the placement and the toning. I don’t just throw in highlights everywhere. I consider the client’s natural base, their skin tone, and their lifestyle. I might root shadow or melt the toner down a bit to keep it dimensional and modern. The goal is to have that “lived-in” look — bright around the face and crown, but still rich and natural throughout.

It’s perfect for clients who want the impact of highlights but don’t want to be in the salon every six weeks. The grow-out is forgiving, and the tones can range from cool champagne to creamy beige or golden honey — depending on the look we’re going for.

Blended blonde foilage takes time and attention to detail, but when I rinse and style and the client sees that mirror moment — the softness, the brightness, the dimension — it’s always worth it.
