What are nasolabial lines/folds and how do we treat them? 💉

Nasolabial Folds, commonly referred to as ‘Smile Lines’, are the lines that run from the nose to the smile. These folds can become deeper as we age due to a loss of volume in the area, and the loss of elasticity in the surrounding skin and soft tissue. Depending on the client and their facial structure, we can treat the folds by restoring volume and structure in the cheek region, or by treating the folds directly.

For this particular client, we used 1ml of dermal filler using a mixture of cannula and needle techniques to soften the crease and restore smoother contours to the mid-face.

The result? Smooth and refreshed, while still looking like you. My aim with treating such areas is always improvement and enhancement, not perfection. ✨

My client’s first time having dermal fillers — we opted for Russian technique using a mixture of fanning and tenting techniques to lift the lip and create emphasis on the cupid’s bow.

For best results, I always recommend the russian technique to clients with virgin lips (no filler), or minimal filler which has previously been injected using the same technique. ✨

Let’s talk ‘M’ shaped lips — this type of lip shape naturally has more volume centrally and less support laterally, which makes it one of the most challenging lip shapes to enhance with dermal fillers, especially when opting for russian technique.

This involved placing dermal filler strategically to build up the thinner lateral edges of the lips, and lifting the cupid’s bow without adding too much volume to the center as we wanted to avoid the lips appearing middle heavy.

As the nose is the most central feature of the face and sits at the intersection of every facial angle, we need to account for and assess the proportions between the nose, lips, chin, and overall facial width.

The best candidates for NS Rhinoplasty are patients who have concerns such as dorsal bumps along the nasal bridge, dropping nasal tip, and nasal asymmetry. It’s important to note that not everyone is suitable for this treatment, which is why I always recommend an in-person consultation!
