August is here, and it’s usually one of our busiest months of the year. With holidays, events and back-to-school and back-to-work haircuts coming up, please get your appointments booked in early.

Our back and chest waxing service has also been going down a storm. It’s perfect for anyone heading away on holiday, wanting to feel a little smoother, or tempted to try it for the first time.

A quick price update:

From 1st September, Junior Haircuts will increase by £1 to £16.

Hair System Maintenance appointments will increase from £40 to £50 due to the rising cost of specialist products, including glue.

We’ve kept these increases as fair as possible and really appreciate your continued support.

ONE YEAR OF SPENDLOW’S BARBERING 🎉

I honestly cannot believe it has been a full year already.

A year ago, it was just the start of an idea, a shop to set up and a whole lot of hoping that people would like what I was trying to build. Since then, we have grown into something I am ridiculously proud of.

From getting the shop ready, working out how everything flows when it is actually busy, moving things around about three times because apparently I like making work for myself, growing an incredible team and welcoming so many new faces through the door… it has been a brilliant first year.

One of those moments where it really hit me was seeing all three barbers fully back to back for a full week. The shop was buzzing, everyone was grafting, clients were happy and it just felt like everything was thriving exactly how I had hoped it would.

The feedback and reviews we have had have meant more than people probably realise too. I wanted to create somewhere that did not feel intimidating, somewhere people could come in, be themselves, have a laugh, chat rubbish about the weather and leave feeling better than when they walked in.

I am proud that Spendlow’s has become that kind of place. A space open six days a week, full of different personalities and with plenty of people behind the scenes helping keep the cogs turning.

I have learnt a lot this year, still have loads to learn and somehow managed to find my feet running my own shop while life outside of it has been its usual level of chaos.

Thank you to every single person who has supported the shop, continues to support us, recommends us, books in, leaves a review, laughs with us or even just comes in to talk about how hot, cold, wet or windy it is outside.

Without you, there would not be a Spendlow’s Barbering.

Here’s to year two. Who knows what is next… but I have a feeling it is going to be a good one. 🧡

Just a heads up from me (Dan)

I am making a very small change to my working hours going forward. I am trying to claw a little bit of time back for myself and be sensible before I burn myself out.

I do a lot of hours already, especially with late nights and Saturdays, and while I still love being busy, I also need to remember I am not 21 anymore with unlimited energy and a Red Bull for blood.

Going forward, I will generally be finishing around 2pm on Saturdays, and late nights will be until around 7pm to 7.30pm.

Nothing already booked in will be changed at all, so your appointment is still safe.

I am still fully committed to keeping the shop busy and looking after everyone properly, I just need to make things a little more manageable long term and make sure I am looking after myself a bit too.

Wow, can you believe Spendlow’s Barbering turns 1 in July?! 🎉

We’ll be doing a proper birthday post soon, but honestly, what a first year it’s been already.

June has been a great one. Hot, sticky and full of fresh trims, so thank you to everyone who came in and sweated it out with us. You lot are the real heroes.

Coming in July, we’ll be launching a Refer a Friend scheme running for two months, with some seriously good discounts involved. More details on that very soon.
