Back from the most relaxing break away ☀️

After a busy year, it was amazing to properly switch off, spend some quality time away, and recharge the batteries.

I’ll be back in the shop from Tuesday 9th June. I’m just using today and tomorrow to catch up on messages, appointments, admin, and to readjust from holiday mode back into barber mode.

I’ve been sat on something for a little while now and somehow managed to keep it quiet… which, let’s be honest, is impressive for me.

Even though I’m on holiday, I clearly can’t stop working. Although, is it really work when you’re doing it from a sun lounger? ☀️

I’m absolutely thrilled to finally share Wibble’s Brave Haircut with you.

It’s a children’s book created to help little ones feel more confident about having their hair cut. It’s ideal for story time or bedtime, giving children a fun, gentle idea of what to expect before their appointment.

The book is also full of little hints and tips based on my own experience as a barber, helping make haircuts feel less scary and a lot more familiar.

I’m just doing the final checks now, and all being well, Wibble’s Brave Haircut will be published and available to buy on Amazon from 12th June.

Polite little cancellation reminder ✂️😂

I’m getting a lot of cancellations this week, especially last-minute ones, so please give me as much notice as possible if you need to move your appointment.

I’ve got people waiting for spaces, but if you cancel too close to the time, I can’t always fill it… and then I’m just stood there staring at an empty chair like I’ve been dumped.

Also, I’m away at the end of the month, so the diary is already looking like Tetris on nightmare mode. If you cancel, I probably won’t be able to squeeze you back in quickly.

Life happens, I totally get it. Just please let me know as early as you can.

Hi everyone,

Hope you’re all doing well.

I thought I’d jump in with a little April round-up and a look ahead to May, because there are a few bits going on at Spendlow’s and, as usual, I have somehow managed to make the calendar mildly dramatic.

April was chaotic, but brilliant.

The shop has been busy, we’ve had some amazing hair system transformations, Harvey has been happy because Forest are playing well, and Godfrey has remained his usual calm, chilled self while the rest of us flap around him like pigeons in a car park.

So all in all, a very standard month at Spendlow’s.

The big thing you’ll notice if you’ve not been in recently is that the shop change-around is done. It definitely took a bit of getting used to, but we absolutely love it now. The shop feels so much more open, with more space, more light, and a really nice airy feel to it.

There are still a few little tweaks to do through the back of the shop, but the main area is feeling fresh, and honestly it’s exciting to see the place evolving as we get closer to our first birthday.

Yes, somehow Spendlow’s is nearly one. I know. I’m emotional. I’m dramatic. I’m already planning a shop birthday party.

Looking ahead to May, there are a few things to keep on your radar.

First up, I’m away on holiday from 30th May and I’m back in the shop on 9th June.

I know. How dare I?

Because of that, my diary is already getting very busy the week before I go away and the week I come back. If you’re wanting an appointment around that time, it’s definitely worth getting it sorted sooner rather than trying to squeeze in last minute and watching the Fresha app laugh at you.

As always, evenings and Saturdays are virtually full before I’ve even had chance to blink, so please plan ahead where you can.

We’re also officially launching our World Cup sweepstake in mid-May.

It’ll be £5 entry, and you’ll pick a team at random. Nice and simple. No football knowledge required, which is ideal for some of us. You pick, you hope, you suddenly become emotionally attached to a country you couldn’t point to on a map.
