‘I’m Ella. I’ve been working as a hairdresser and barber for more than 15 years.

I'm known in my field as a creative and deeply detail-focused barber, someone who believes that great haircuts are built on precision, vision, and genuine care.

I thrive on challenges - whether it's mastering a new technique or bringing a client's idea to life.
Setting clear goals and steadily achieving them is what drives me forward, both behind the chair and in my personal growth.

What truly fuels my passion is the art of crafting sharp, intentional lines and seamless, smooth fades. Every cut is an opportunity to merge technical skill with artistic expression.

Outside the barbershop, I dedicate time to power pilates, which strengthens my discipline and focus. I also channel creativity into drawing and other visual arts - a balance that keeps my perspective fresh and my hands steady.

For me, my job isn't just a profession; it's where craftsmanship, connection, and creativity meet.’

Up next is Charlie.

Charlie arrived at Il Capo as an Apprentice, and has since passed his qualification with flying colours - which is quite clearly on display with every cut he does.

Charlie’s the type of barber who’s obsessed with the details. Whether it’s a clean skin fade, a sharp beard blend, or making sure every customer walks out feeling fresh, he takes real pride in the craft. You can usually find him keeping the standards high, the trims sharp, and the shop laughing all day long in his fantastic pink gloves.

Away from the clippers, Charlie’s known around the shop for his easy-going personality, great conversation, and calm approach with clients — the kind of barber people come back to not just for the haircut, but for the atmosphere too.

Did we mention Charlie’s great with kids cuts too? His background has him incredibly well qualified in children’s entertainment and he comes with buckets of patience 😊

First up in our Meet The Team series is the boss herself… Sophie Davies of Il Capo Barbiere 💈

A few things you might not know about Sophie 👇

• She’s a third-generation barber, carrying on a family trade that goes all the way back to her grandfather Bill Davies, who opened his Newcastle-under-Lyme shop in 1949.

• “Il Capo” translates to “The Boss” — a nod to her family roots and grandfather’s legacy.

• Sophie has over 20 years in the barbering industry and started training young alongside her dad, Joe Davies.

• She helped build the shop into what it is today with the support of friends and family during some seriously challenging years for independent businesses.

• Sophie and her dad even featured in a story connected to BBC One’s “The Repair Shop”, sharing part of their barbering history.

If you’ve ever sat in Sophie’s chair, you’ll know it’s never just a haircut — it’s good conversation, plenty of laughs, and someone who genuinely cares about every person walking through the door.
