A new face for new surroundings….

Alongside our refit of 13 Nun Street, we’ll also be welcoming Scotty Henderson, as he joins the fold to round off a special summer for us here at The Hoi Polloi.

With over three years of industry experience, including time with our friends at 𝙎𝘽 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙡. 𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘼𝙘𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙮 ♛ learning the fundamentals, Scotty joins the team with an original creative outlook and strong enthusiasm for being part of the THP collective.

It’s an exciting new chapter for both THP and Scotty who has consistently knocked on our door. It’s a journey that has been in the making for a while and proof that dedication, hard work and openness to learning will take you far in this world.

A vision becomes reality.

The Hoi Polloi at 13 Nun Street will reopen tomorrow (August 5th) now that our refit has been completed.

A huge thanks to all of our partners and suppliers who have brought designs, textures and ideas to life over a busy fortnight.

We’re delighted with the space and cannot wait to welcome our customers through the door once again. We’re grateful for your patience, love and support.

Our Newcastle city centre store is taking shape. Last big push over the weekend before the grand reveal next week. 🐲

•The Vision•

This is the new look city centre store, we are ditching the monotone minimalism to bring warmer more natural tones. Using a range of materials to create a scandi inspired utilitarian design.

Working with AND+ Studios LTD we are trying to make better use of the space whilst keeping the roomy feel of the shop.

The addition of aircon, double backwash area and new look counter/service area we are looking to raise the standard of our service and keep pushing the limits of what we can achieve.

We are deep in the refurb with great progress so far.

We hope you will enjoy the space as much as we have enjoyed creating it!

An update regarding our Newcastle store.

From Monday 20th July, our Nun Street store will be closed for 2 weeks while work on a brand-new refurb is carried out.

At The Hoi Polloi, we’re always trying to progress and evolve. This refurb is designed to offer you an elevated experience by bringing you:

an updated aesthetic up to our current taste
expanding the number of barber stations
new furniture and fittings
an improved store layout

13 Nun Street is our very first brick-and-mortar store and has served us well. We worked night and day to bring this dream to life. Opening in 2020 was challenging for obvious reasons, but we weathered that period and began to cement ourselves in the Newcastle community.

This store has become something more than a typical barbershop. It’s been a springboard to welcome the community, to the point where we’ve hosted charity run clubs. We’ve welcomed MEAT:STACK, Analog and Full Circle for pop-ups. We’ve watched as H.E Sports launched their very first clothing capsule and we’ve partied long into the night for special events and birthdays.

We’re looking forward to creating new memories here. Welcoming more people through the doors and introducing them to the THP community.

The refurb is scheduled for two weeks. We’re so excited to show you the process and bring you the finished store shortly. Thanks for all your patience and support.

Sam Turnbull has been with us for two years now, becoming a full-time Ouseburn member after completing his training with Jack regan with flying colours.

It feels like Sam has been with us much longer than 24 months. He’s a big personality in the store who is loved far and wide by clients across the North East for his down-to-earth style, creativity, and interest in various subcultures. Since joining the barbering scene, he has been one of the most naturally talented people we’ve come across.

He’s hard-working with a great attitude. Someone who can make people feel at ease in an instant. We’re chuffed he’s part of our journey.
