Firstly, I’d like to thank everyone for your continued support—it really is appreciated.

After receiving a complaint today, I thought it was worth explaining something that some people may not realise.

During the school holidays, I don’t have fixed opening times like I do during term time. In the 16 years I’ve owned the shop, I’ve always worked around my childcare responsibilities in the holidays. I open as soon as I can get there, and while I do everything possible to minimise any delay, sometimes family has to come first.

I’m a mam before anything else, and I won’t apologise for making sure my children are cared for. I don’t have a support network of grandparents or family who can step in, so every day during the holidays is a bit of a balancing act. I also have animals to care for before I start work.

One thing I hope people appreciate is that I rarely take extended time off. In fact, I haven’t had a full week away from the shop since April 2025. Rather than closing for the holidays, I choose to keep working and fit everything around my family so I can still be here for my customers.

All I ask in return is a little patience and kindness if I happen to arrive later than usual. Most of my customers have always been incredibly understanding, and I’m very grateful for that.

What I do struggle with are sarcastic or disrespectful comments. We’re all dealing with things that others don’t always see, and a little understanding goes a long way. If we can’t treat each other with basic respect, then I’m probably not the right barber for you.
