Alternative Therapy Newcastle. Massage | Sports Massage, Pregnancy Massage | Swedish Massage | Osteo WHY CHOOSE?

Unlike many places you can go for a massage, at The Therapy Rooms, a therapeutic massage treatment involves an in depth consultation and spinal assessment. You’ll be asked to talk about your lifestyle and your therapist will be able to make practical constructive suggestions as to how you can improve your health. For most people, their health and the reason they need a massage, isn’t just the result of one simple event, but many lifestyle choices. At The Therapy Rooms we can help in, not only dealing with the symptoms of the problem but also helping you to find out the underlying causes.

What is fascia?

Fascia is a network of connective tissue that runs throughout your body. Think of it as a continuous, three-dimensional web that surrounds and connects your muscles, bones, nerves, blood vessels and organs.

Healthy fascia is flexible and allows tissues and muscles to move and glide smoothly over one another.

However, things such as repetitive movement, intense exercise, prolonged sitting, injury, scar tissue, stress and lack of movement can affect how the tissues move. You may experience stiffness, restricted movement, areas of tension or discomfort.

Massage may help?

Different hands-on techniques can work with the muscles and surrounding connective tissues in different ways:

🏃‍♀️ Sports Massage
Designed to support people who are active, sports massage can help address areas of muscular tension, improve mobility and support recovery following exercise.

🙌 Manual Therapy
Hands-on techniques can be used to assess and treat areas of restricted movement and muscular tension, helping to improve mobility and how the body moves.

👐 Myofascial Release Therapy
This focuses specifically on the relationship between muscles and fascia. Gentle, sustained pressure and stretching techniques can help reduce the sensation of tightness and improve tissue mobility.

Why might this matter?

When your muscles and surrounding tissues are moving well, you may find it easier to move freely, maintain flexibility and carry out everyday activities or exercise comfortably.

The important thing is that treatment can be tailored to the individual. Tracy at The Therapy Rooms can use different techniques depending on your needs, whether you're dealing with muscular tension, restricted movement, exercise-related tightness or simply want to improve your mobility.

My final tip this week for getting a good nights sleep is to increase your magnesium intake. Getting enough magnesium is important for your overall health, and it plays a role in several processes that may be relevant to a good night’s sleep.

💚 1. Supports your nervous system
Magnesium contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system, helping your body maintain normal nerve function.

💪 2. Supports normal muscle function
Magnesium contributes to normal muscle function and may be particularly relevant if muscle tension is affecting your ability to relax.

🧘 3. Supports relaxation and wellbeing
Magnesium contributes to normal psychological function and helps reduce tiredness and fatigue, which can support your overall wellbeing and nighttime routine.

🥜 Try getting more magnesium through foods such as nuts, seeds, leafy green vegetables, wholegrains and beans. Some people like to take it as a supplement in the evening, half an hour before they go to sleep.

A healthy sleep routine involves much more than one nutrient, but making sure you get enough magnesium is one small part of looking after your overall wellbeing. ❤️

Another tip for healthy better sleep - keep those mobile phones out of the bedroom! Invest in an alarm clock if that is your excuse for having your phone in your room. The blue light and EMF disrupts sleep cycles, slows your recovery and in addition, stresses your brain!

Try it for a week and let me know if your sleep improves!

One of my top tips for getting a good nights sleep, which in turn would enable you to achieve your fitness goals and recover from injuries more speedily, is to make sure you get to bed before 10:30pm (at the very latest)

You know what they say, an hours sleep before 12pm is worth 2 hours after 12.

Sleep isn’t just about feeling rested – it’s essential for your health, hormone balance and recovery. Late nights can affect cortisol levels and may leave your body with less time to properly repair and recover.
