Jawline and chin augmentation involves the injection of hyaluronic acid filler into the lower face to help restore facial volume loss and support and create a more defined and rejuvenated lower face.

Patients who have weak or under-projected jawlines will find that treating the area with filler will help to balance the facial profile and create impressive harmonisation of the lower face.

Filler augmentation of the lower face is commonly combined with treatment of the mid and upper face as part of a full-face rejuvenation. This allows us to treat key areas of age-related volume loss to achieve impressive yet natural-looking refreshment of our faces.

Hyaluronic acid is a gel-like substance that has the unique ability to retain moisture. In fact, our bodies naturally produce this to keep our skin soft and supple. Hyaluronic acid works wonderfully as an anti-aging component as it can hold over 1,000 times its weight in water.

As we age our natural production of hyaluronic acid diminishes.
From around the age of 25, the skin's own production of hyaluronic acid slowly decreases. That means the skin loses moisture more quickly, and it loses volume. Fine lines form and finally the first wrinkles appear. To replace volume loss we use soft tissue fillers which are Hyaluronic acid based to replace this volume and smooth out wrinkles.

When you think of ageing skin, you might think of wrinkles. But discolouration is as much a sign of prematurely ageing skin as wrinkles. The Glogau Scale assesses wrinkle development and pigmentation to determine the degree of photoaging.
There are 4 types on the Glogau Scale, and each corresponds with an estimated age range where this type is predicted.

Type 1 is No wrinkles
Type 2 is Wrinkles in motion
Type 3 is Wrinkles at rest
Type 4 is only Wrinkles

This easy-to-use classification system helps your practitioner chose the right treatment plan to enable you to get the best results. The higher the classification, the more potent products and procedures may be needed to correct existing wrinkles and photodamage.

Looking after your skin means knowing what type of skin you have and how to best manage it. By understanding the specifics of your Fitzpatrick skin type, you can customise your skincare routine and take the correct steps to protect your skin from sundamage. Skin type is also used to determine if you are a candidate for certain lasers, chemical peels, and skincare ingredients used to renew and rejuvenate the skin on the face and body.

Where you fall on the Fitzpatrick skin type chart depends on a few factors, but mostly on your skin color. Skin colour ranges from 1 (palest and most susceptible to sun damage) to 6 (darkest and least affected by the sun).

Elastin is a protein that gives elasticity and resilience to your skin. Alongside collagen, elastin is the main structural protein component of the skin. Collagen and elastin complement each other and are vital for youthful looking skin.

As we age our elastin cells become weaker which causes them to lose their ability to spring back in the same way. The results of this cause fine lines and wrinkles especially around our eyes, mouth and forehead.

Dermal fillers are gel-like substances which are injected into the skin. These fillers contain hyaluronic acid which naturally occurs within the skin tissue. This gives your skin structure, hydration and also plumps the skin.

Dermal fillers can be used to address various facial concerns such as hollow cheeks, thin lips, lines and wrinkles, and enhancing facial contours.

Once the treatment has been completed the results can be seen immediately. These results can last for over a year, depending on the area treatments or the type of filler used.

Collagen makes up around 80% of our skin. Together with elastin (another protein) it’s what gives our skin strength and is vital for maintaining elasticity.

Collagen is mainly present in the middle layer of the skin (the dermis), collagen has many benefits for our skin, keeping it firm, plump and supple. It’s also essential in our skin’s natural renewal process, shedding old skin cells and making way for new ones.

At Wight Aesthetics we offer specific skin treatments which enable you to stimulate your own collagen production. This will allow your skin to maintain its strength and integrity.
