🚧 CORPORATION ROAD RESURFACING UPDATE 🚧

We promised to keep residents updated on road resurfacing works across the ward, and here is the latest information regarding upcoming improvement works on Corporation Road.

Newport City Council will begin a programme of essential carriageway resurfacing and repair works on Corporation Road near the Cromwell Road junction starting:

📅 Phase 1: Tuesday 26 May – Friday 29 May 2026

⏰ Working hours: 9:00pm – 5:45am
The works will involve resurfacing the carriageway and deeper road repairs to improve the condition of the highway. The decision has been made to carry out the work overnight to reduce disruption to schools, daytime traffic and bus services.

⚠️ Residents should be aware that:

Temporary road closures and restricted access will be in place during the works

• Diversion routes will be signposted

• Some parking restrictions will apply along sections of Corporation Road, Cromwell Road, Gaskell Street and surrounding roads

• Bus services will be diverted during some evening services

• Access for emergency services will remain available at all times

Please also be aware that some noise, vibration and dust is unavoidable during resurfacing operations, although contractors have been instructed to minimise disruption wherever possible.

A second phase of works is planned for:

📅 Monday 1 June – Friday 5 June 2026
We will continue to keep residents updated as further information becomes available, including details for Phase 2 works.

📍 Please allow extra time for journeys during the works and check diversion signage before travelling.
