Today, on International Nurses Day, I’ve been reflecting on just how far this journey has taken me. 💙
From qualifying as a children’s nurse, to working in PICU, SCBU, Complex Healthcare, Community Nursing, and now building my own business alongside it all… nursing has shaped so much of who I am.
It’s been exhausting, emotional, beautiful, overwhelming and rewarding all at once. There have been moments where I’ve questioned myself, moments of burnout, moments I’ve cried in the car after shifts, and cried with colleagues — but also moments I’ll carry with me forever. The tiny wins, the families who trusted me, the children I’ve cared for, and the privilege of being there in some of the most vulnerable moments of people’s lives.
Nursing isn’t just a job to me. It’s compassion, advocacy, resilience and heart.
I’m proud of the nurse I was at the start of this journey, and I’m proud of the nurse, woman and mother I’m becoming now.
To every nurse out there — whether you’re surviving the shift, questioning yourself, studying, leading, caring, comforting or simply trying your best — you are seen and appreciated.
