Introducing Texture Unravelled..

The logo I designed and was created by was inspired by the four hair classifications in the Uk hairdressing qualification.

Straight - Wavy - Curly - Very Curly

I’m so pleased to announce the launch of “Texture Unravelled”.
Its a groundbreaking campaign to revolutionise and rejuvenate the hairdressing industry.

The campaign is dedicated to championing all hair types within the hair industry with a distinct focus on Textured hair through:

• Dynamic research and education

• In person and online discussions

• Hands on practical training

• Collaborative peer sessions

• Industry Partnership

Unravelling what has always seemed to be mysterious and complex. My hope for now and the future is that Textured hair education is to be made more understandable and accessible to all.

I’m so pleased to say that has been a constant support ever since I joined the membership a few years ago.

I’ve worked on a few projects with them and they have consistently been an encouragement.

I was delighted when they agreed to support me with this vision to begin to look at ways to make Hairdressing truly inclusive.

Please join me on this journey and actively get involved with the process. Take the opportunities to share your honest thoughts on this topic.

This isn’t just about the Hairdresser and the next generation of Hairdresser but the consumer, the salon guest, the product brands and developers, the manufacturer, the Educator, the industry organisations and the Government.

I am 1 person advocating for change but we are more than 1 that can make change.

My name is Erica.

I’m an advocate for Cross Cultural training and Immersion within the Hairdressing Industry

Collaborative education encourages change.
The CCCC are a collective of Hairstylists that immerse themselves in the Intercultural exchange of knowledge and skills within the Hairdressing industry, in this case curls

We believe that as Hairstylists we should endeavour to actively integrate into communities other than our own, to understand, learn and appreciate its customs, practices and way of life

To be the very best in the Hairdressing Industry, engaging in cross cultural learning and experiences increases our skills and abilities, which then enables us to offer a variety of services to guests we would potentially never meet before

Apprenticeships….

National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) 2023 was celebrated from 6th – 12th of February 2023 the 16th annual celebration of apprenticeships

The week brought together businesses and apprentices across the country to shine a light on the positive impact that apprenticeships make to individuals, businesses and the wider economy

The week reflected on how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career and help businesses to develop a talented workforce that is equipped with skills for the future.

The theme for this year was 'Skills for Life'. National Apprenticeship Week brought together the entire apprenticeship community to celebrate everything that is amazing about apprenticeships

A round of applause to you young lady…

They get to an age when they want to do their own curls…

Having curls doesn’t mean that the default cut has to be short

In requests such as this it’s to be able to manage the curls themselves as young people

Having shorter hair allows them to manage hair products, shampoo, condition, detangle, dry and style their hair with a little more ease and independence

Remember, we have to assist our guests and manage expectations with a suitable hair care regime at home that meets their personal needs

Over time with experience and as confidence grows, together you can have another conversation and adjust the regime accordingly

Partnership = Developing a relationship sharing responsibility

Curly couples that get cuts together…

We have the pleasure of cutting these 2 amazing curly guests and so I had to take the opportunity to take a photo

Curls bring even strangers together in so many ways, do you ever look at another curly person and just give that unspoken nod or smile?

There is just something about curls and community, sharing experiences, product recommendations, tips and tricks, the list goes on

Curls just seem to have a magical curiosity about them that people can’t quite articulate but just feel there’s something special
