Sole Charge Grooms Position – Live In – Northamptonshire

We are seeking an experienced sole charge groom to run our family based yard just outside of Brackley, Northamptonshire. We have a stunning purpose built barn housing 5 indoor Monarch stables with the capability of holding 2 more in the winter. We have a large 60x40 ménage and horse Walker all in approx 50 acres of grazing.
We are primarily a hunting/showing yard priding ourselves on very well turned out horses and all round high standards. Whilst we are looking for a groom this role will be varied and will include the following:
Horses:
 Competent and confident rider of hunters and show horses
 Feeding, mucking out and picking paddocks
 Daily exercise routines for horses in work
 Cleaning tack, hunting attire and boots
 Maintaining the yard to keep wash boxes, walker, feed room and tack room clean.
 Clipping and plaiting of horses
 Getting horses ready for shows/hunting to a very high standard
 Driving HGV or Trailer (desirable but not essential)
 Working with or breaking (desirable not essential) youngsters
 Night checks on horses
 Attending shows as and when necessary, preparing and doing second horses as and when required.
 General sole charge duties of the yard.

Maintenance:
 Cleaning horseboxes and jet washing horse walker and concrete areas
 Fixing and maintaining all post and rail fencing throughout the estate (approx 50acres)
 Driving of tractor and trailer to empty muck heap
 Annual Painting of stables and fences
 General garden maintenance in the large garden that accompanies the house, to include; weeding, jet washing, hedge cutting, pruning etc as and when required.
 Occasional grass cutting as and when needed.

Whilst this role reads extensively during the summer months we are much quieter with the horses as our hunters are turned out normally only leaving 2/3 horses in work so main duties completed by mid morning.

In return we will be offering a modern 1 bedroom 1 bathroom private annexe on the estate with a small garden and a possible stable if the right person wanted to bring a horse. Sadly we are unable to accept dogs unless under exceptional circumstances. We would also be open to a couple as the role could suit a groom and a tradesperson.
Salary is negotiable dependent on circumstances.

Must have driving licence and use of own car (however farm vehicle available for use on site).
