How the METHOD team are keeping their clients safe during the COVID-19 outbreak?
In this post we would like to outline the measures the METHOD team have put in place to minimise the risk of transmission and protect the health of our clients and the team in close contact services such as hairdressing, in line with government policy. As advised by the government, it is our duty to provide clear guidance on expected client behaviours, social distancing and hygiene to people before your arrival to the salon. These adjustments have been made for both yours’s and the teams safety, and failure to observe these safety measures will result in services not being provided. We also aim to provide you with a degree of confidence that we have taken the appropriate action in accordance with the latest government guidelines. Government guidelines will change over time and therefore our guidance to you will be regularly updated. We very much look forward to seeing you all very soon.
Method COVID-19 salon policy
• There will be no waiting area in the salon. Clients are
asked to arrive at the time of their scheduled
appointment and wait to be collected/greeted prior to
entering the salon. Please wait on the designated floor
sticker
• METHOD will be operating an appointment-only system
until such time the government relaxes their guidelines
• METHOD has calculated the maximum number of clients
that can reasonably follow social distancing guidelines
(2m, or 1m with risk mitigation where 2m is not viable, is
acceptable) and limited the number of appointments.
Therefore, no more than 6 clients will be in the salon at
any one time
• All the METHOD team will use back-to-back or side-to-
side working and all four chairs will abide by the social
distancing rules, as outline in government policy
• Face masks are compulsory for all clients unless there is
a medical condition which inhibits the client wearing a
mask safely
• Clients will be encouraged to bring their own masks, two
masks if you are having a hair colour treatment.
However, mask will be provided if needed
• The use of hand sanitisers is compulsory and will be
provided at the reception desk. If for any reason a client
cannot use the hand sanitiser, nitrile non latex gloves will
be provided
• If a client arrives wearing gloves, the client will be asked
to remove and dispose of these gloves prior to entering
the salon
• All clients will be asked to attend their appointment alone.
If you require someone to attend the appointment with
you, please contact your stylist so the appropriate
measure can be put in place to minimise risk
• No food or drink to be brought into the salon. Water in a
disposable bottle, brought in by the client is acceptable if
required
• METHOD will not provide any food or drink to clients
• Payment should be made via card where possible,
preferably contactless
• If you have been informed by the government or your GP
that you are ‘clinically extremely vulnerable’, you may
wish to reschedule your appointment from the 1st August
when shielding maybe relaxed
• The team will wear protective face shields at all times
• All surfaces and equipment will be thoroughly cleaned
after each client; this will include full workstation clean
down, chairs, brushes, scissors and basin.
• The salon has undergone a deep clean, floor resurfacing
and repairs made to chairs were necessary
• Disposable gowns and towels will be used for each client
and disposed of safely
• Hand sanitiser will be available at the reception prior to
entering the salon area and at each workstation
• Sterile cleansing wipes will be available at each
workstation
• Stylists will only work on a one in one out basis and
therefore only see one client at a time regardless of
treatment required i.e. colouring
• Toilets will be checked and cleaned on a regular basis
throughout the day
• Both hand sanitiser and hot running water and soap
along with disposable paper towels will be provided in the
toilets
• The METHOD team will adopt a staggered start and
finish to their working day to avoid congestion and hot
spots within the salon
• The salon will be well ventilated at all times
• The METHOD team will abide by standard infection
control precautions and national hand hygiene policy
• In line with government policy, METHOD will be
supporting the NHS Test and Trace scheme. Therefore,
to assist this service we intend to keep a temporary
secure record of our clients for 21 days to assist NHS
Test and Trace with requests for that data if needed. This
could help contain clusters or outbreaks.
• To ensure that steps are taken to avoid people needing
to unduly raise their voices to each other METHOD will
only play low background music and ask clients to avoid
conversation during blow-drying
• Your stylist will manage and guide you through the salon
to reduce congestion and contact between clients
