The Country Salon

Another year, another Christmas Tree decorated for the Reepham Christmas Tree Festival. The beautiful sustainable decorations have been crafted by Sarah from Positively Crafting, my photos don’t do them justice, they really are amazing 😍🎄!

The team had a lovely evening last week at The Dial House sampling the new Pizzeria with Laid-Back Bar and Bread Source.

The opening night is the 1st May and we can vouch for the fact the pizzas, salads and dessert are amazing 🤩!

We have been busy decorating our tree at the church in Reepham for the Festival. This year all of our lovely decorations were crafted for us using recyclable materials by Sarah at Positively Crafting, it’s amazing what you can make out of tin cans and old books🎄!

Bread Source have opened today downstairs from us in the Dial House… not only very yummy but also very convenient for a pastry or bun to enjoy with your coffee whilst having your hair done!

Huge congratulations to the Papillon Project on completing their epic trip from Norwich to Great Yarmouth on the Pap Leeky!

We are very proud to be supporting the Papillon Project with their “PAP LEEKY” project, paddling an improvised raft 27 miles from Norwich to Great Yarmouth along the Norfolk Broads in four days to raise environmental awareness about climate change.

Paul will be driving the support boat on Thursday and Sunday, and is very much looking forward to a few days on the river, fingers crossed the weather stays nice for them all!

The Papillon Project are an educational charity that promotes sustainable living and environmental awareness for young people. They work with secondary schools and sixth-form colleges in Norfolk, including our own Reepham High School, to inspire young people to grow their own food for themselves and their local community.

🛶 OUR RECYCLED BOAT 🛠

The Pap Leeky raft sets sail later this week! In true Papillon style, it's made almost entirely from recycled and upcycled materials that would have otherwise gone to waste.

We used plywood offcuts, scaffolding planks, a washed-up fishing crate, eight old storage drums and lots and lots of old pieces of rope…it might sound precarious but we’re confident it’ll see us through our voyage. And if it all goes wrong? We’ll be followed by a microplastic-collecting safety boat (thank you for the loan, Marine Power Ltd!) which will fish us out in the event of an emergency.

Upcycling is a key part of our approach when creating school allotments. We creatively reuse as many materials as possible to inspire young people to live greener, more sustainable lives. From plastic bottles to classroom tables, pallets to bathtubs, we regularly find use in the garden for all these and more!
