Struggling to find work-life balance?

After 9 years of being self-employed and 6 years of running a salon, I’ve finally learned one thing… the balance we all think we need to achieve does

NOT EXIST.

There’s no such thing as 50/50. Either work demands more, or your personal life does.

Right now, my personal life needs me to be more flexible with work, and I’ve started appreciating even more that I created a career that can align with whatever season I’m in. The guilt is still there sometimes (either about work or family), but not as much anymore… because work will wait. I still have a lot to give, but my home needs me more atm.

And I’m so grateful for the incredible team at the salon. Because of them, I haven’t had to worry about the shop and can focus on adjusting to this new life of being a mother of two 🤍

Also… what a journey this has been. Carrying him until 41 weeks felt looong 😅 I still can’t believe I had another unmedicated birth 😅— and in water 🤩
Women’s bodies are truly incredible.

Then just as I started feeling recovered, my 2-week-old got bronchiolitis and we ended up in hospital for 5 days. I’ve never felt so scared in my life, but thankfully he recovered well and is doing great now 🤍

just living slowly right now — adjusting, protecting our space, figuring things out.

So… is there really such a thing as balance? Nope 🙂‍↔️ And the less pressure we put on ourselves, the better.

I’ll fully return to work mode at some point… and honestly, I can’t wait for that too 🙃

MAPPING WITH CLOSED EYES

I had a mentoring session where my student told me she always marks the middle of the eye on the eyelid… but with the eyes closed.

Now look at my photos 👇
With closed eyes vs open eyes — the “middle” is not where you think it is.

The true centre of the eye is where the pupil is — and this is almost always slightly closer to the inner corner, not the middle of the lid.

If you map with closed eyes, your set can easily look off once your client opens them.

Start mapping with open eyes and you’ll instantly improve your results.
