The face you want at 50 isn’t built by suddenly deciding at 50 that it’s time to start looking after it.

Ageing happens gradually, and it doesn’t happen in just one place. Skin quality changes, collagen and elastin reduce, facial fat pads can shift, bone structure changes and repeated muscle movement can begin to leave its mark. Hormones, lifestyle, nutrition, sleep and sun exposure can influence what we see too.

This is why I never look at one concern in isolation.

You may come to me concerned about jowls, tired-looking eyes, deeper nasolabial folds or changes to your profile, but the area you notice isn’t always where the problem begins.

Sometimes restoring support elsewhere can create a more natural improvement than simply treating the area that bothers you. It’s also why two people with the same concern may need completely different treatment plans.

My approach is about assessing the whole face, understanding what has changed and deciding what actually needs support. That could mean improving skin quality, stimulating collagen, restoring lost volume or supporting facial structure. Sometimes, it means deciding an area doesn’t need treating at all.

Treatments are only one part of ageing well. Good skincare, daily SPF, nutrition, movement, sleep and looking after your overall health all play a role.

Starting earlier doesn’t mean doing more. It means understanding your face, protecting what you have and making considered choices as things change.

The goal isn’t to make you look like somebody else. It’s to help you continue looking like you, naturally and confidently, at every stage.

There are certain things I hear in clinic that make me smile because I already know exactly what I’m going to say. 😂

“My wrinkle treatment hasn’t kicked in yet…” — it’s been two days.

“One side of my lips looks bigger…” — they’re still swollen.

“Can I microneedle myself at home?” — please don’t.

And yes, I really am going to tell you to wear your SPF every day, even when it’s cloudy.

Then there’s finding the same treatment much cheaper elsewhere. With aesthetics, you’re not simply paying for a product — you’re choosing the practitioner, their training, experience, knowledge, products used and the standard of care surrounding your treatment.

Biostimulatory treatments take a different approach, working with your body to encourage natural collagen production and gradually improve the quality, firmness and structure of the skin.

From PLLA and CaHA to PCL and PDLLA, each option behaves differently and can be selected according to what your skin actually needs. Hyaluronic acid works differently again, providing hydration, volume and precise correction where appropriate.

This is why there isn’t one treatment that is automatically “best”. Your skin, facial structure, concerns and desired outcome all matter when deciding which approach is most suitable.

For some, the priority may be improving firmness and skin quality. For others, it may be restoring support, soft volume, hydration or definition.
