Slow and low is the name of the game with this one
Working on raw Slavic hair today, using 10 vol bleach and taking my time with virgin/raw hair, a lower volume developer processing slowly gives you way more control and helps protect the integrity of the hair, rather than rushing it with something stronger.
Once she’s lifted to a level 8 warm/9, I’ll be mixing in a bit of the original untouched hair when I put the colour together this gives me a natural reference point so the tone I’m mixing stays true to what the hair actually needs, rather than guessing. Let’s see what we land on

I don’t really know why I’m sharing this, other than I know I can’t be the only one who’s felt this way.
One of the biggest gifts of being self-employed is freedom.
But sometimes, that freedom comes with the hardest decisions.
My children already go to nursery two days a week. One of those days I’m behind the chair with clients, and the other I’m at home working on the business prepping hair, admin, sourcing, colouring… all the things that happen behind the scenes.
Now I’m at a point where I’m considering opening one more day behind the chair.
Not because we need it.
But because I know the opportunities it would create for our family. It would give us more flexibility with our home renovation, allow us to say yes to more experiences, and create a little more breathing room.
But then I look at my children and think…
They’re only this little once.
And that’s the part I can’t seem to get past.
The hardest part is that nobody is making this decision for me.
If I worked for someone else, I’d probably already be back working more days. It would’ve simply been expected.
Instead, I get to choose.
And whilst I’m incredibly grateful for that, it also means I carry the weight of wondering whether I’m making the right decision.
I don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer.
It’s just trying to balance being present for my children today, whilst also creating opportunities for our family tomorrow.

K18 before colour is a non-negotiable, raw hair gets prepped every single time, no exceptions. It’s the step that protects the hair from the inside out before any colour goes near it 💧
the real drama of this video… I left my water spray at the salon 🙃 so I raided my daughter’s pretend cleaning spray set. Fully expected it to be useless. It was NOT. That thing sprayed better than half the actual salon tools I own 😭
Anyway first, always, no matter what you’re spraying it on with 🤣
the reveal 🤍 and I want to be really clear about something this was never about changing her hair into something crazy or unrecognisable. it was never that kind of transformation. this was about confidence. filling in that missing piece she felt like she didn’t have
we added a little length, we added some thickness… but we didn’t do anything that doesn’t look like HER. that was the whole point. still her hair, still her vibe, just… more of it, and healthier than ever this is what I mean when I say extensions should enhance you, not disguise you
This client used to be full blonde like proper blonde and about 9 months ago we decided to slowly, slowly transition her into this rich, natural, intense colour instead.
The colour isn’t even the best part. the real difference maker has been switching her over to weight intentioned bonds. and I need more of you to understand WHY this matters when your bonds are weight correct, there is zero strain being pulled on the scalp. zero stress on the natural hair underneath. her scalp literally doesn’t feel a thing
so 9 months of consistent, intentional application later… look at this condition. look at this colour. this is what happens when extensions are actually done properly not just for the ‘gram, but for the health of the hair long term this is the standard I want every client leaving my chair with

can we talk about how hiding bobs is literally a puzzle like a whole brain workout
it’s NOT just “cram as much hair over it as possible” that’s not it that’s not the skill
it’s about:
✨ weight distribution — how are your ratios looking, are you top heavy, is it even
✨ coverage — are you actually covering it or just hoping for the best
this is what makes or breaks your install when you’re working with thick bobs or blunt cuts specifically. you can have the perfect cut, perfect color, perfect everything but if your ratios are off or your coverage has gaps it shows. every time.
so next time you’re struggling, ask yourself: is it a ratio problem or a coverage problem. bc it’s always one of the two
