Today, I started my Independent Prescribing course at De Montfort University, which I’m aiming to complete in Spring/Summer 2027 ✨

Currently, where a prescription-only medicine is required as part of a treatment, I work alongside a qualified nurse prescriber, who undertakes the clinical assessment and prescribing.

Once I have successfully completed my Independent Prescribing qualification, I’ll be able to personally undertake the clinical assessment, make the prescribing decision and prescribe appropriate prescription-only medicines for my clients, where clinically suitable and within my scope of practice and competence.

This means a more seamless client journey, with the clinical assessment and prescribing process managed directly by me, rather than requiring an additional prescriber - helping to avoid unnecessary delays and making your treatment journey as straightforward as possible🤍

The next few months are going to be busy balancing my career as an NHS Clinical Pharmacist, university and my aesthetics clinic - but I’m so excited for this next step and everything I’ll learn along the way💉

Ultimately, this is about continuing to develop my clinical skills and knowledge so I can provide safe, individualised and evidence-based care to every client who trusts me with their treatment🤍
