The UK is one of few countries where treatments like Botox and filler can be carried out by absolutely anyone. There are no minimum education, experience, or training standards – if you are aged 18 years or over, you can set up as a cosmetic practitioner.

As a nation we’re quite trusting and we assume that most of the products and services we consume must be safe, reliable, and that they must be regulated. However, currently there is no law, regulatory body or organisation which effectively polices this industry, despite the industry itself demanding regulation.

This year the government is hoping to regulate the industry to make it safer but in the meantime if you are looking to find a practitioner then look out for the following RED FLAGS before deciding if you can trust them with your face….

🚩A low price (the product is probably not licensed as being safe or has been sourced illegally)
🚩They don’t offer you a consultation
🚩They offer to treat you on the same day as your consultation without giving you time to think about it.
🚩They don’t ask you to sign a consent form.
🚩The practitioner can’t show you their insurance certificate or training certificate.
🚩You are not told about any possible complications or given any after care advice.
🚩The products used are not CE approved.
🚩The treatment is prepared before you before you arrive.
🚩They are not medical/nurse/midwife trained or completed comprehensive complications training incase they need to act in a emergency.
