I am officially on maternity leave until further notice as my little girl was born Thursday night 💕

We are both doing well and settling in at home nicely 🏡

A patch test is a test to discover whether a person is allergic to any substances which are applied to the skin.
Patch testing involves applying a small amount of a substance or product to the skin and leaving it on to see if a reaction develops. This is usually seen within 24 hours of having the product tested on the skin.

𝓦𝓱𝓮𝓻𝓮 𝓲𝓼 𝓪 𝓹𝓪𝓽𝓬𝓱 𝓽𝓮𝓼𝓽 𝓬𝓪𝓻𝓻𝓲𝓮𝓭 𝓸𝓾𝓽?

A patch test is carried out in the inner arm. This is done so that you are able to see a reaction if one occurs. Some professionals may test behind the ear however you may not always know you’re having a reaction if the area is just red and inflamed, therefore it is important a patch test is carried out in a place you can keep an eye on things.

𝓦𝓱𝓪𝓽 𝓲𝓼 𝓪 𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷 𝓽𝓸 𝓪 𝓹𝓪𝓽𝓬𝓱 𝓽𝓮𝓼𝓽?

Testing positive for an allergen can manifest as a variety of reactions. In most cases, the skin will become red, itchy and inflamed.

If a reaction occurs you will not be able to have any treatment with these products and antihistamines are recommended to ease the irritation.

Yes every client should have a new patch test done if they haven’t had one by myself before. You may not have reacted to a previous product but that doesn’t mean you won’t with the products I use.

You should also have a patch test if you become pregnant, change in medical needs and every 6 months due to changes in hormones etc.

No, a patch test is done to mitigate a risk of reaction, as a professional we have a duty to keep our clients safe and a patch test is the best way to show due to diligence. A person can develop an allergy at any time, this is why regular patch testing is so important.

𝓦𝓱𝓪𝓽 𝓲𝓯 𝓘 𝓭𝓸𝓷’𝓽 𝔀𝓪𝓷𝓽 𝓽𝓸 𝓱𝓪𝓿𝓮 𝓪 𝓹𝓪𝓽𝓬𝓱 𝓽𝓮𝓼𝓽?

If you decline a patch test, I will have to decline a service. Your safety is my priority and my insurance would not cover my business if I was to carry out a service without a patch test.

Today marks the day when thousands of nail technicians across the country have agreed to collectively raise their prices.

Although stocks beauty has decided not to join in in the increase of prices, I throughly support my fellow nail techs in doing so.

This doesn’t mean I won’t increase my prices at some point however right now they are staying where they are.

Please support and appreciate your nail techs in increasing their prices as most of us are making less than minimum wage with the increase of products, insurance, electricity bills etc and as you all can probably agree, we wouldn’t work less than minimum wage if we were working any other job! 🧡
