Yesterday I showed my skin in a way that, a few years ago, I genuinely never would have.
I’ve spent years being insecure about my pigmentation and comparing my skin to people I thought had “perfect” skin.
And as a practitioner who offers skincare and treatments, I could easily hide behind filters, editing and perfect lighting. But I think it’s just as important that I show you this is normal too.
Pores. Texture. Pigmentation. Scarring. Lines. Uneven skin tone. Real skin.
I still treat my skin. I invest in it and there are things I want to improve because they make me feel good. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that either.
But I especially want younger generations to see what normal skin actually looks like, so they don’t grow up feeling like they have to live up to an edited version of somebody else.
Improve what you want to improve. Embrace what you want to embrace. Just do it for you.
My skin isn’t perfect. But my imperfect skin is perfect.
I can still treat it, invest in it and improve the things that make me feel good. But I don’t need to hate it in the process.
