Full Time Funeral Director Required

G. Barlow and Sons Ltd are an independent and family-owned business. We provide compassionate and professional services to families in their times of need. We pride ourselves on attention to detail and empathetic approach.

We are looking for a Funeral Director to join our friendly team. The successful candidate will oversee and coordinate all aspects of funeral services, ensuring every detail is handled with care and respect.

This is a full-time position with unsociable hours with a competitive salary. Your working hours will be Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5:30pm, some Saturdays 9am - 1pm. You will also participate in the out of hours rota (evenings/nights/weekends) as our business is available 24 hours. You must hold a Full UK Driving Licence.

You must be efficient, caring, helpful, resilient, punctual, reliable, organised and be able to work under pressure and sometimes at a fast pace in a calm and collected manner. We are a small team and therefore the demands of the role will be wide, and your ability to be flexible in what is asked of you, essential.

You need to have a good level of fitness to be able to carry out some of the duties involved.

The job role includes:

Conveying deceased from place of death to our Chapel of Rest
Preparing the deceased for family viewing
Arranging funerals including liaising with clergy, hospitals, cemeteries
Preparing, lining and fitting of coffins, including engraving nameplates
Driving company vehicles including hearse, limousine/s and ambulance and shouldering the coffin
Out of hours conveyances (on a rota basis)
Administration duties

This list is not exhaustive, and you will be required to 'muck in' as and when necessary. Whilst emotionally and physically demanding this is also an extremely rewarding role where you make a valued impact every day.
