My client wanted a Japanese manicure, so the goal was to care for and enhance the appearance of her natural nails without applying a gel or enhancement product.

But the part I really want you to focus on is the preparation.

Whether you’re performing a manicure, applying gel polish, BIAB or hard gel, your preparation is the foundation everything else is built on.

Good preparation comes down to understanding the natural nail, knowing which areas require attention and having the control to work accurately.

It’s important to spend time developing your preparation skills and understanding the natural nail, rather than constantly looking for new tools or techniques.

Take the time to understand the fundamentals, practise them and really master your skills.
Because before we think about what we’re putting on the nail, we need to understand how to prepare it properly ✨

All tools used for the cuticle work are from my own Kara’s Nail Tools range. Developing these preparation skills is also a focus of my nail training, both in group courses and 1:1 sessions
