It has been just over a week since the University Barber Shop re-opened to customers.

We have followed all the government guides so we could re-open safely.

We have a welcome station at the front door to welcome customers and let them know the processes in place to protect them and the staff. We take their details which we hold on file for 21 days. We also have hand sanitiser and facemasks available.

The waiting area inside the shop has been reduced from 12 space to 5 with each available seat marked at 2 metres distance. Each seat is sanitised before the next customer can sit down.

We normally have space for 7 hairdressers cutting at any one time, however, we have cut that down to 4. Each work station is separated by a screen so to stop the hairdressers getting close to each other. Every chair and all equipment are sanitised between each customer.

Once the hairdresser has done this they call the next customer over, asking them to sanitise before sitting down. All customers get their own disposable gown to wear and can wear a facemask if they choose too.

Every member of staff will be wearing a gown, and a visor at all times whilst cutting the customers hair.

We have had a number of comments from customers who have complimented us on how well our procedures work.
