✨ Holistic Massage vs Swedish Massage – What’s the difference? ✨

This is one of the questions I’m asked most often by students considering massage training.

💆 Swedish Massage is the massage typically taught in colleges and is considered the industry standard. It follows National Occupational Standards and provides more in-depth practical training. It’s ideal if you want to work in salons, spas or clinics, offering treatments ranging from express massages to luxurious full-body experiences.

🌿 Holistic Massage takes a different approach. Rather than focusing solely on physical symptoms, it considers the mind, body and emotional wellbeing. It includes learning about the Chakra Energy System and aims to restore balance and encourage deep relaxation.

Other differences:

🌿 Holistic: The Holistic Massage Diploma is a shorter, lower-cost route at £345, with home study, one practical day and 24 case studies. As it is currently classed as an introductory course, Level 3 Anatomy & Physiology is not required before enrolling.

💆 Swedish: The Swedish Massage Diploma is £595, runs over 2.5 days and offers more extensive practical training and tutor support. Level 3 Anatomy & Physiology is required and also allows progression onto advanced courses such as Lymphatic Drainage and Pregnancy Massage. Level 3 A&P can be studied alongside your training.

Which one is best for you?

🌿 Holistic: Ideal if you’re drawn to a whole-person approach and want an accessible introduction to massage.

💆 Swedish: Perfect if you’re looking for industry-standard training and a pathway to advanced courses.

💕 Still unsure? Get in touch and I’d be happy to help you choose the course that’s the best fit for your goals.

Meet Ceri, our nail tutor, based in Tonypandy.

One of the best investments I've ever made in my business was continuing to learn.

Over the last 20 years in the beauty industry, I've learned that while trends come and go, strong foundations, knowledge, skill and client experience will always stand the test of time.

It's also why I'm so passionate about sharing that knowledge and supporting others within the industry.

Alongside offering treatments, I also provide training in:

✨ Manicure
✨ Pedicure
✨ Gel Polish
✨ Builder Gel
✨ Nail Extensions
✨ e-File
✨ e-Pedi

For me, education isn't just about learning a treatment. It's about building confidence, refining your skills, creating loyal clients and developing a business that lasts.

Whether you're new to the industry or looking to expand your existing skills, I'd love to help support your journey.

My inbox is always open for a chat 🤍

✨ Do you have clients asking for help with blackheads and large pores? 🙋‍♀️

Many women find that their pores actually become more noticeable with age.

As collagen levels decline, the skin loses some of its firmness and support, which can make pores appear larger. Add in congestion, excess oil and dead skin cells, and pores can become even more visible.

The good news? There are several effective treatments that can help.

✨ Chemical Peels – help exfoliate dead skin cells and improve skin texture.

✨ Microneedling – stimulates collagen production, helping to refine and tighten the appearance of pores.

✨ Ultrasonic Spatula Treatments – help remove congestion and deeply cleanse the pores.

✨ Microdermabrasion – exfoliates and smooths the skin while helping to reduce the appearance of enlarged pores.

✨ Hydradermabrasion – deeply cleanses, exfoliates and hydrates the skin for a fresher, clearer complexion.

The best treatment will depend on your client’s skin, which is why a consultation is always the first step.

Many clients notice an improvement after just one treatment, but a course of treatments will usually achieve the best results.

✨ How do chemical peels actually help breakouts? ✨

When you have clients with oily skin and breakouts, there are usually several things going on.

The skin has been triggered (by hormones, stress, genetics, lifestyle factors and more) to produce excess sebum (oil). At the same time, the skin cells can become thicker and stick together more readily.

The result?

Oil, dead skin cells and bacteria become trapped within the follicle, leading to congestion, blackheads and inflamed breakouts.

This is where CLINICCARE Chemical Peels can be incredibly effective.

✨ How do they work?

Chemical peels accelerate cellular turnover and break down the bonds that hold dead skin cells together. This helps to reduce follicular blockage, improve the shedding of keratinised cells and keep pores clearer.

Many peel ingredients also help regulate sebum production, reduce inflammation and create an environment that is less favourable for acne-causing bacteria.

Chemical peels should be a staple in every skin therapist’s toolkit because they are such a versatile and effective treatment. They can be used to target acne, congestion, oily skin, pigmentation, ageing and overall skin rejuvenation.

The result:
✔ Less congestion
✔ Reduced oiliness
✔ Fewer breakouts
✔ Clearer, healthier skin

Do you want to be able to help clients with acne scars?

Acne scarring can have a huge impact on confidence, and many clients are actively looking for treatments that can help improve the appearance of their skin.

Two of the most effective treatments for acne scarring are:

✨ Microneedling – Stimulates collagen production within the skin, helping to smooth and soften acne scars while improving overall skin texture.

✨ Chemical Peels – Encourage skin renewal and exfoliation, helping to improve uneven texture, reduce post-acne marks and create smoother-looking skin.

When used as part of a treatment plan, these advanced skin treatments can deliver impressive results and help clients feel more confident in their skin.
