We’re so excited to introduce Leila, the newest member of our nail team at There She Glows 🤍

Leila is a fully qualified Nail Technician at the beginning of her career in the nail industry. She’ll be joining us to build her experience, confidence, speed and clientele, with continued support and in-house training along the way, alongside her college course🏫

She’ll initially be offering Gel Polish, BIAB and Acrylic Full Sets at reduced introductory prices while she builds her portfolio and gains more hands-on experience.

We’ll also be holding regular in-house training days with Leila & Stacey, where we’ll be looking for models for Gel Polish, BIAB, BIAB Infills, Acrylic Full Sets and Acrylic Infills.

These model appointments will be COMPLETELY FREE and will be posted on our socials as and when we need them — so keep your eyes peeled 👀🤍

Really unpleasant and intimidating experience outside my salon today.

I was working alone in the salon when I noticed a man had parked his motorbike in one of the spaces allocated to our shop.

I went outside and politely said, “Hello, I’m really sorry, but you can’t park there. These spaces are for the shop and they’re permit controlled, so the fines are around £100.”

Straight away, he shouted at me, “What do you want me to do?” I won’t add the rest of what he said but he was very very aggressive to a young woman working alone.

I explained that I was simply letting him know and asked if he could please move. Again, he shouted at me.

I was genuinely confused by the reaction because I hadn’t been rude or confrontational — I was actually trying to prevent him from getting a parking fine.

When I asked again if he was going to move as all he was doing was shouting and staring at me, he told me that every time I spoke to him he would add more time onto how long he was going to stay there. It started at 5 seconds, then became 10 etc.

What he didn’t initially realise was that my brother was nearby. Once my brother came over and backed me up, his attitude towards the situation changed and he eventually agreed to leave.

He then sat on his motorbike directly outside the salon, staring at me through the window and tapping his wrist to make it clear that he was deliberately waiting out the extra time he’d told me he was adding on.

He then left as he is not a resident either so does not have the relevant permits to park here.

As a young woman working alone, I found the whole interaction incredibly intimidating. There is absolutely no reason to behave like that towards someone who has approached you politely — especially when they’re actually trying to save you from receiving a fine.

I have photographs of the individual and his motorbike, including the registration number, which I have kept should they be needed. I won’t be posting his registration or identifying information publicly.

Please just respect local businesses and their allocated parking spaces. A polite request doesn’t warrant aggression or intimidation.

🚩 LET’S TALK MMA ACRYLIC…

This is something I think more clients need to be aware of 🤍

MMA has some very recognisable signs during removal — one of the biggest being the way it can turn into a sticky, gluey, putty-like consistency when soaked in acetone

Professional acrylic should not behave like what you can see in this photo

Why am I so against MMA?

🚩 It’s extremely hard and rigid
🚩 It can cause significant damage if the nail is knocked or caught
🚩 It can cause irritation and allergic reactions
🚩 It can be incredibly difficult to safely remove

This client had her nails applied elsewhere in poole. I won’t name and shame, but this is exactly why I’m so particular about the products I use in the salon!

Please don’t be afraid to ask your nail technician what products and brands they’re using on your nails. A professional tech will always be happy to tell you, and you should know what is being applied to your nails!🫶
