Why I do this work

Six months before I found out my husband had been unfaithful, I was caring for my mother as she was dying of cancer. I was in the thick of that grief showing up for her, holding her, losing her by inches when the second blow landed: twenty years into my marriage, I discovered he’d been unfaithful the entire time. Not once. Not a mistake. The whole way through.

I won’t pretend the divorce that followed was anything other than devastating. I was traumatized genuinely, deeply, and grieving on two fronts at once. As well as trying to put on a brave face for my children.Somewhere in the middle of that wreckage, I made myself a promise: I would no longer just survive. I would thrive.
That promise didn’t heal me overnight. Healing rarely works that way, no matter what the soft focus wellness world sometimes implies. It wasn’t all sound baths and candlelight and gentle laughter. There were dark stretches weeks where thriving felt like a joke I’d told myself in a moment of desperation. I had to ask for help. I had to be relentlessly, sometimes painfully, kind to myself when every instinct wanted to do the opposite

Time passed. I did the work. I accepted to live , kindness & support around me.And I found love again dispite telling myself and anyone that would listen that I was NEVER dating again! Today I’m writing this from the other side of the world, on holiday for a month with people I love, and I can say without exaggerating: life is good.
I’m telling you this because when you come to me for Reiki, or sound healing, or a Headspace Ritual, or simply an hour of stillness on the table I’m not guiding you from theory. I’ve been in the dark place you might be in right now. I know that healing is hard work, not a spa day. And I know, from the inside, that you really can come out the other side.

So if you’re in it right now grief, betrayal, loss, exhaustion,overwhelm a version of your life falling apart here’s what I want you to hear: don’t give up hope. Make that promise to yourself, the way I did. Ask for help when you need it. And above all, be kind to yourself.

We’re organising the summer holidays ,we’re working ,we’re walking the dogs ,we’re feeding the family we’re doing it all

It’s not a badge of honour being incredibly busy
Nobody’s gonna give you a gold medal at the end of the day for being on duty twenty four seven

I’ve been the first to ignore that I go and I go and I keep going…

Not any more..

But what I didn’t used to do was acknowledge that I was feeling tired or burnt out whereas now I do start to feel it and I’m like nope I need a day off I need time out I need to just lie on my bed with a fan on or giggle with a friend whatever it is something that just recharges your batteries

Had the most wonderful Wednesday evening at a womens gathering organised by the brilliant Rhiannon Duffin | Creative Branding + Marketing wildandgathered swapping stories and experiences with strangers who didnt feel like strangers for long

As a mum of four boys with grandsons brothers and nephews too

It’s safe to say I’m usually surrounded by male energy so stepping into a space full of women was so far outside my comfort zone

Im so glad I did it

Huge thanks to Vusi madsmal caka for the gorgeous food and drinks that kept us all fed and flowing all evening

Growth doesnt always look big sometimes its just showing up somewhere new and letting yourself enjoy it✨
