🏛️✨ A JOURNEY THROUGH HISTORY: AQUAE SULIS

Did you know that nearly 2,000 years ago, Bath was already a destination for relaxation, healing and a little bit of luxury?

Long before Jane Austen wandered its streets, the Romans knew this city as Aquae Sulis and its incredible natural hot springs made it one of the most fascinating places in Roman Britain. 🇬🇧

But the Roman Baths weren’t simply somewhere to have a wash… 👀

🛁 A social hotspot: Bathing was a major part of Roman life, offering a place to relax, socialise and catch up on the latest gossip.

🔥 Ingenious engineering: The Romans used a heating system called a hypocaust to warm the floors and rooms of their bathhouses.

🏛️ A sacred site: The springs were associated with Sulis Minerva, a goddess worshipped at the temple beside the water.

💧 Nature’s own wonder: The water feeding the baths comes from rainfall that fell on the Mendip Hills thousands of years ago, eventually emerging naturally at around 46°C!

Today, the Roman Baths remain one of Britain’s most extraordinary historical sites, giving us a glimpse into life almost two millennia ago.

And as someone who has always loved history, castles and ancient ruins, I absolutely love discovering the stories behind places like this. 📜

The countdown to Bath Christmas Market is officially ON! 🕯️🏛️

In just 65 days, I’ll be setting up shop in the heart of Bath, bringing our History in Every Scent collection to life. 📜✨

Every chapter has a story to tell… and I’m working very hard behind the scenes to get everything ready!

Am I nervous? Absolutely 😂

I think I massively underestimated just how much work goes into preparing for a market this size… and then decided that having a newborn baby at the same time would be a great idea. 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

There have definitely been moments of wondering what on earth I’ve taken on, but I’m incredibly lucky to have such an amazing family around me who have been helping, supporting and encouraging me every step of the way. ❤️

So, with 65 days to go, the making, packing, labelling, stock counting and mild panic officially continues! 😂🕯️📦
