To our fabulous clients and our Southsea community,
I want to start by expressing how extremely grateful I am, for the unwavering support the salon has had over the last 12 years, since I picked up the reigns in 2014.
Together with the extremely talented team here we have built something truly special from the ground up and that is something I will always cherish.
We have overcome so much, against all odds and created a thriving and successful independent business despite all the bumps in the road and for that I will be eternally proud.

With that being said I have found it increasingly hard to balance my work life and home life the last few years, and although doing it all is my speciality, I knew deep down time for change was calling… ❤️

My landlord had recently expressed to me his desire to sell the building. Since then I have desperately tried to secure a future for Smyth’s whichever avenue that may be… (and believe me I tried) unfortunately to no avail.

So with a heavy heart and a lump in my throat I announce that our building will go up for sale imminently and with that Smyth’s will be closing its doors on the 9th June. 💔

I really trust the timing of life’s plans, and although this is the end of what was an amazing era, i know It is just the beginning of all our next adventures. ✨

I can’t thank you all enough, clients past and present that have sat in our chairs and shared joy, laughter, friendships and beautiful hair for all these years.
If only the salon walls could talk…😝

A fantastic first session of grey blending for this new client, the goals were low maintenance and natural 🤩✨.

We wanted to create a natural and even looking canvas that can grow out without a harsh regrowth and that we can build upon in future.✨

Previous colours had left a lot of banding and warmth so there was a lot to get stuck in to!

From the 1st October 2024 there is a small price increase across our range of services.

This is inline with inflation of our product and running costs within the salon.

As always we strive to keep our prices as fair and competitive for you as we can, without compromising on our products or service. ✨

PRICE UPDATE 🤍

Due to our ever growing overheads, including stock price increases and electricity rises, we have no choice but to to update our price list accordingly.

We pride ourselves on using only the best premium products that we truly believe in, and we would never cut corners on this for any service.

We are all highly trained and educated stylists who are always striving to perfect and learn and expand our skills to bring to you on the salon floor.

Hairdressing has evolved so much over the years, and colour appointments have become increasingly more involved. This generally means appointment times are longer. We want to allow all the time we need to create your hair transformation, colour change, balayage, highlights ect and therefore we do need to charge accordingly for these services.

We hope you all understand that for a small independent salon like us to survive and grow going forward, we have to make these changes.

There will still be pricing levels throughout the salon services to suit all budgets. New price levels will come in to effect on 1st March 2022.

As we try still to navigate our way through unprecedented times, it has come to our attention that we must address NO SHOWS.

As hair stylists we stay late for you, we sacrifice our lunch breaks for you, our evenings with friends, our weekends with our families, they all disappear as we try desperately to give you the appointments with us you desire. And we don’t think twice because we LOVE our job, and the service we provide you.

But to fail to turn up to your appointment with NO communication to us whatsoever, even when a REMINDER is sent out,
is not only insensitive and unfair, it has a detrimental impact on the salons survival.

We get it, life happens, your unwell, you’ve double booked, you have to work… fine by us just CALL US as soon as you can.
At least give us a chance to fill this appointment with other clients who more than likely wanted that slot.

In the last 2 weeks alone the salon has lost over £400 in NO SHOWS.

Please understand independent businesses hang by a thread. SUPPORT THEM. ❤️

Our cancellation policy remains that we need 48 hours MINIMUM to cancel or change an appointment, unfortunately any less than time than this given will be charged a small cancellation fee to cover a percentage of our losses.

NO SHOWS will be required to pay for their missed appointment in full.
