“SPF is for life... not just for summer” ☀️
So, what to look for in an SPF and why?
In the fight against pigmentation and ageing, the best thing you can do for yourself is to wear SPF daily!
The UVA rays that age your skin and cause pigmentation are present even in winter when the last thing on your mind is sun cream, and even when your indoors. Applying SPF to your face, neck and hands will protect you from this.

Because of this reason it’s so important to get an SPF that covers UVA and UVB rays, these are found in products marked Broad Spectrum, which means that although your moisturiser/foundation tells you it’s protecting your skin, you aren’t actually fully covered.
There are also two types of sunscreen you can choose from, chemical or physical
▫️Physical- uses ingredients like zinc oxide to bounce the suns rays away from your skin stopping them penetrating

▫️Chemical allows the body to absorb the rays then converts them into heat and allows them to leave the body
Both of these are effective in fighting the rays, however chemical SPFs are more likely to see you with issues like heat rash and irritation because the rays are allowed to enter the body. Physical sunscreens also tend to be best for clients who have permanent makeup/ microblading etc because it prevents the sun from fading your pigment.

Which factor to go for?
The lower the factor the shorter time you can be exposed to the sun before burning, is a very simple way to explain sun factors, however there is more to it than that. Generally we recommend a minimum 30 or above, it is just important to remember that when you’re exposed to sun all day you need to top up! Wearing factor 50 can sometimes give you a false sense of security that you don’t need to reapply... SPF only works if you wear it.

Here we go again guys!
Myself and the girls are so sad to have to close our doors again from midnight this evening.
We’ve spent Christmas with our families and had such a lovely time, and took the time to reflect on how amazing all of our clients have been throughout this year. We can’t thank you enough for all of your support and the kindness you have shown us throughout.
