Gloss n Giggles Nails

My client's beautiful nails (she seriously had the most beautiful nail beds) - four weeks since her last infill and the retention has been great! She now has some lovely wedding nails for the weekend using some gorgeous emerald green gel polish, cat eye top coat and some lovely fairy garden nail art - love love love how these turned out. The photo doesn't do the emerald green justice!

I GOT INTO COLLEGE!! 😭🥳

After throwing myself completely out of my comfort zone, changing direction, starting my own little nail business … I’ve only gone and got myself a place on the Level 2 Beauty Therapy course! 🤩

And honestly… I’m SO excited! ❤️

I'm loving building Gloss N Giggles Nails and finding my feet as a nail tech, and now I get to take things a step further by developing my knowledge and skills across the wider beauty industry. You can never have enough education no matter how old you are.

It feels like such a natural next step for me — and I’m really looking forward to learning new treatments, gaining more confidence and seeing where this new chapter takes me. ✨

So… apparently I’m going back to school at 54! 😂🎒 Whoever said life begins at 50 was so right!!

Never let yourself think you’re too old to start something new, change direction or have another go at making a dream happen.

This is me… just getting started. 💕

I'm going to be offering nail appointments on Mondays/Tuesdays and Saturdays and I'm going to look at Wednesday evenings after 5pm for one appointment so if you would like a later appointment then a Wednesday evening might suit you :).

I've also got a new treatment I am going to be offering later on so watch this space!!! Very excited for this 😊

I’ve seen a few very different prices being advertised locally lately, and it got me thinking…

So I thought I’d explain why my prices are what they are — because you’re not simply paying for the product on your nails. ❤️

When you book an appointment with me, your price covers so much more than gel.

✨ Quality, professional products
✨ Time spent preparing and caring for your natural nails
✨ Proper prep and application
✨ Hygiene and sanitisation between every client
✨ Fresh files, buffers, nail brushes and manicure mats
✨ Gloves changed throughout the service
✨ The time spent learning, training and continually improving my skills
✨ My insurance, equipment and salon costs
✨ Products used during your treatment
✨ Electricity, booking/admin costs and other business expenses
✨ And, of course, the time I spend actually carrying out your treatment.

And then there’s the simple fact that this is my job. ❤️

Like any other small business, I need to charge enough to cover my costs and earn a living from the hours I put into my business.

Could I charge less?
Of course and I have when I first started out and I basically wasn't even earning national minimum wage, would you go to work for any less?

But charging less isn't necessarily better for me, my business or ultimately the service I want to provide to my clients.

I’m not trying to be the cheapest nail tech around — and I don't want to be.

I want to provide a professional, personal service where your natural nails are looked after, you feel comfortable and cared for, and I can be proud of the work I put out.

So if you ever see a big difference in prices between nail techs, remember…

You're paying for everything that goes INTO your appointment.
