It really had been a copper few weeks here!
Another gorgeous copper balayage for my amazing client 🥰 Balayages are the perfect low maintenance style but you can really spice up those ends.

I wouldn't normally make a post like this but after emails back and forth with Bury Council not getting me anywhere I wanted to share my experience with the new Additional Restriction Grants that became available for businesses that had been impacted by the implementation for Plan B.
Firstly let me take you back to December, as some of you may know I had a somewhat rocky run up to Christmas. Once the government announced Plan B, unfortunately I had a lot of cancellations, whether this was through no fault of their own as they had to isolate or due to clients being now nervous about coming into the salon. This meant my business was down over £700 in 2 weeks, just through client cancellations not to mention the money that was lost from stock, time etc. So when the government announced the ARG Grant I rested a little easier knowing I could recoup at least some of the money I'd lost.
The Government announced the criteria for the grants including personal care but when I went onto the Bury Council websites to apply, I found Bury Council had excluded businesses within personal care that rented a space, this meant I didn't qualify for anything. This is a decision Bury Council had made despite supporting businesses that rent a space before. I emailed Bury Council to ask why they'd made the decision to exclude such a big section of personal care (after research I realised that over 50% of my industry would class themselves as renting a space). The email I got back stated that the ARG grant was to cover 'costs associated with running a business' and they couldn't extend the criteria as there were already too many applications. To which I replied I am a business and have just as many overheads as any other business and I wasn't asking them to extend the criteria, I was asking them to be fair to the sectors they were helping. The email I received back was basically a flat no, they'd already closed the grant and it was their decision not the governments who got the money, even suggesting that salon owners should pass on the support to those who contribute to their business!
I'm actually really taken aback by the stance Bury Council has taken on this, I AM A BUSINESS. I have running costs, I'm not pretending at business here. Anyone who knows me or my business knows I take it very seriously, this is my livelihood. I really do feel that this comes back to the perception that because I'm freelance I'm making loads of money as I don't have to pay anything out. This is not true, amongst other things I pay for:
Rent
Stock
Insurance
Online booking system
Accounting
Education
Advertising
Website fees
The list goes on and on.
Now I'm not naive I know there is only a certain amount of money to share out and there are businesses out there that won't get help but I'm not asking for special trement, I'm asking for Bury Council to be fair and not exclude the majority of my industry when we've been hit really hard. I would just like the opportunity to show them why my business is just as worthy as others in my industry and why drawing the line where they have will cause business to really suffer and could potentially lead to less freelance hairstylist, nail tecs, makeup artists, beauty therapists and many more not surviving this pandemic.

Blunt textured bobs are one of my favourite cuts, they're universally flattering and are so low maintenance!
For this look all I did was spray in some Be Tex texturizing spray from Everygreen, blast off my clients hair, smoothing it out when it was about 90% dry. Then I sprayed in a little Medium hold Hair spray again from Everygreen, scrunching and rubbing the hair between my fingers to get those textured ends 😍 et volia! Easy to go style in under 5 mins!

Caramel Cocoa ☕
I love the depth of a brunette balayage, Nails By Jennifer Marie likes her brunette to have a little something extra whilst still maintaining her dark roots and deep tones through out.
I think we achieved it don't you? 🤩
