⨠Why is my skin red after microneedling? â¨
That post-treatment redness is called erythema â a completely normal response following microneedling. As the tiny microchannels are created in the skin, your body increases blood flow to the area to kick-start the healing process and stimulate collagen production.
Erythema typically appears as mild to moderate redness, similar to a sunburn, and can last anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days depending on the treatment depth and your skinâs sensitivity.
This temporary redness is often a sign that your skin is actively repairing and renewing itself. During this time, keep your skin hydrated, avoid excessive heat and sun exposure, and follow your aftercare instructions carefully.
Healthy healing = beautiful results. â¨

Glow up, gently â¨
Circadiaâs Lactic Acid Peel exfoliates, hydrates, and brightensârevealing smoother, more radiant skin with no downtimeđŤ
Nowâs the perfect time to start: with less intense sun exposure, your skin can heal and renew more effectively, giving you that fresh, dewy glow just in time for summerâď¸
Noticing tiny bumps and swelling around your hair follicles after laser hair removal? Thatâs called perifollicular edemaâand itâs actually a good sign â¨
Perifollicular edema is a short-term reaction where fluid collects around the hair follicles after the laser targets them. It can look like small raised bumps (almost like goosebumps) with slight redness.
Why does it happen?
The laser heats and damages the hair follicle, and your body responds with mild inflammationâthis shows the follicle has successfully absorbed the energy.
What to expect:
⢠Appears within minutes to hours after treatment
⢠Feels warm or slightly tender
⢠Usually settles within a few hours to 1â2 days
How to care for your skin:
đ§ Apply a cool compress if needed
đ§ Use calming products like aloe vera
đ§ Avoid heat (hot showers, saunas, workouts) for 48 hours
đ§ Keep the area clean and avoid irritation
Bottom line: perifollicular edema is a normal, expected responseâand often an indicator that your treatment is working effectivelyâď¸ However everyoneâs skin is different and reacts differently so if your skin doesnât react like this it doesnât mean treatment hasnât worked too- all skin is different, we understand that and therefore treat it as suchâ¨
