Hand sanitiser will damage the skin on your hands even the leather on your steering wheel. Winter can cause some peoples hands to crack especially along the facing side of the first two fingers. Your skin needs to stay intact to protect you from invading organisms. If you enter a business and they offer you sanitiser to meet their Covid-19 health guidelines, you have a moral obligation to use it. Do not light a cigarette with this on your hands, its flammable. I suggest you carry a tube of hand cream in your bag and apply afterwards to reduce the damage from the alcohol in the sanitiser. Information to date is that the Covid-19 viral organism has a lipid (fat) membrane which means soap will kill it. In your car you could carry a pump hand wash and a damp flannel in a plastic bag. Then dry your hands. An important act is dont touch your face unless you have just cleaned your hands. Hard to resist but a safe behaviour to learn especially when traveling.
