CPD (Continuing Professional Development) is not a qualification. It is training or learning that helps you keep your knowledge and skills up to date after you’ve gained your qualifications.

A qualification is awarded after completing an accredited course and demonstrating competence against set standards. CPD, on the other hand, is used to refresh, expand, or develop existing knowledge and usually does not lead to a regulated qualification.

In simple terms:

* Qualification = proves you are trained and competent in a subject.
* CPD = helps you stay current and continue developing your skills after you are qualified.

Im not coming for anyone or suggesting anything, I just think is super important to understand what learning you’re undertaking and where it will land you.

I’ve done my fair share of CPD accredited courses and continue to do so. This helps me evolve and learn but this is along side my Qualifications.

There’s a huge difference between being CPD accredited and being qualified.

As long as you know the difference and you’re happy with your learning experience and the outcome then there’s no issue.

Saying someone is “CPD qualified” is technically inaccurate because CPD is not a qualification.

Instead, you could say:

* CPD certified
* CPD accredited training completed
* Completed a CPD-certified course in…
* Undertaken CPD training in…

This is something I have learnt over many years, trying to navigate and understand the paths I needed to follow to get me where I am in an ever evolving industry with changing regulations and legislation.
