My youngest was still having a 1.5 hour daytime nap when she started school.
Every single day.
I spent months before September trying to cut it.
She was miserable.
Meltdowns.
Couldn't function.
So eventually I stopped fighting it and just... let her keep it.
First half term?
Her teacher came out every day with a smile.
"Lianne fell asleep in the book corner again. The other children covered her up with the dolls blankets."
She became famous for it. π
And by the second half term,
without me doing a single thing , she dropped the nap herself.
Her body adapted. On her own timeline.
I'd spent months stressing about something that sorted itself out.
Now schools have been told to move away from slow,
staggered starts and go full-time from day one.
Which might feel scary if your child still naps.
Or struggles with big days.
Or is your sensitive one, your anxious one, your one who needs a bit longer.
Here's what I know, children are more adaptable than we give them credit for.
But it helps enormously when we
understand THEIR temperament,
THEIR strengths,
and prepare them in a way that's personal to them.
Not Google's version of ready.
Their version.
That's what Super School Ready 2026 is built around.

Can we just sit with this one for a second?
So many parents I work with carry this guilt that they should be fixing things faster.
You don't have to fix it.
You just have to create safety so that they can.
Big difference.
This one is for every parent who has ever stood there desperately trying to make the tears stop.
You don't have to have the answer.
Sometimes just staying close IS the answer.

Your child says
"I don't want to go to school"
We reply
"You'll be fine"
"Don't worry, there's nothing to worry about"
"Just be brave"
"You will have fun"
Every single one comes from a place of total love.
But here's what a little child hears underneath the words.
My fear is wrong.
My feelings aren't real.
Being scared isn't okay.
Hard feelings should be avoided, not worked through.
We don't mean any of that. But that's what can land for some children.
Perhaps nobody taught you how to sit with your children's hard feelings.
Perhaps you were shown cheer up and move on.
So that's what you do.
There's another way.
Join my free School masterclass June 10th and we will talk about preparation that can really help.

Here is something I ask most parents I work with to do.
Crouch down.
Right down to your child's height.
Now look at the world from there.
Countertops you can't see over.
Adults who talk to each other across the top of your head.
Rooms that were designed for people three times their size.
And in September, a brand new school full of all of that.
We spend a lot of time getting them ready for school.
But are we actually seeing what they're walking into?
