With the glorious weather set to continue - be mindful to SEEK SHADE - especially during peak UV hours (11am-3pm).

UV RADIATION is responsible for 90% of skin cancer cases AND 80% of the visible signs of aging!

SHADE is one of the following FIVE key preventative measures that should be used in combination to reduce the risk of sun damage and skin cancer.:

🌞 Slip on clothing - the first line of defence against UV!
🌞 Slop on SPF30+ sunscreen and reapply every 2 hours
🌞 Slap on a wide brimmed hat
🌞 Slide on UV protective sunglasses
🌞 Shade from the sun during peak UV hours

⚠ How many times have you experienced sunburn?

‼ Sunburn, reddening, peeling and even tanning of the skin are clear signs of sun damage.

‼ Over-exposure to UVA and UVB causes DNA cell damage that can lead to all types of skin cancer.

☀ Cumulative sun exposure is the main cause of non-melanoma skin cancer (the most common cancer in the UK), while sunburn plays a clear role in the development of melanoma (the 5th most common cancer in the UK).

☀ Sunburn at any age, but particularly in childhood or adolescence can significantly increase your risk of developing melanoma. Skin damage builds up over time starting with your very first sunburn and the more you burn, the greater your risk becomes.

☀ In fact, a history of just FIVE sunburns - DOUBLES your risk of melanoma.

☀ PROTECT your skin by:
✅ Covering up with clothing, including a wide brimmed hat and sunglasses.
✅ Applying an SPF 30+ sunscreen, generously and evenly - and reapply at least every two hours
✅ Seeking shade during peak UV hours 11am - 3pm
