Thank you all so much for the past couple of weeks! 💕

I’ve been back to doing slightly more normal hours to try and fit everyone in during the half-term Easter rush. This has meant that messages haven’t always been answered straight away and some appointment times may have been pushed back slightly, so I really appreciate your patience and flexibility.
I am doing my best to keep everything running on time and trying to keep ontop of admin/ cleaning the salon this week has been carnage but its felt like the good old days.

I’d also like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has brought me lovely goodies and gifts — it’s incredibly kind of you. It truly makes the long hours and achy joints worth it when I get to see you all 🥰

Hope u all have a lovely Easter 🐣🐰🌼🌷

The salon is reopen! ✨

After a big clean-up and a good sort out, the salon managed to reopen on Wednesday. After a weekend where I really didn’t want to go down there at all, it’s been so lovely to have life and laughter back again.

A busy week full of clients has made it feel like a nice place to be once more. I’m sure it will take a little time to get the love I used to have for it fully back, but this week has definitely helped.

Thank you all so much for your support and for the beautiful flowers — it really means a lot. 🩷

Thanks,
Jemma xx

⚠️Temporary Closure Notice⚠️

I’m heartbroken to share that the salon was burgled on Thursday evening / Friday morning.
After the year I’ve had, this is the last thing I needed. Not only were my tools taken — the very tools I rely on to earn a living — but any tips I had been given while I’ve been able to work this last year were also stolen. What has always been my safe place has now been made to feel frightening.

To the person responsible: you were caught on camera and left behind a significant amount of evidence. If this was you, or if you know who it was, I strongly advise you to come forward before the police contact you.

We are temporarily closed while everything is sorted and secured. Thank you for your patience, support, and understanding during this time.

😭💔

Happy New Year! ✨

As we head into 2026, there are a few changes coming to the salon.
First, some exciting news… we’ll be welcoming a brand-new salon name 👀
More on that very soon!
Alongside this, there will also be a price increase. This is my first proper price rise in 8 years, and it’s not something I’ve wanted to do. I’ve held off for as long as possible, but with the continued rise in the cost of running the salon, my current pricing is no longer sustainable.
I completely understand that this may feel like quite a jump, and I’m truly sorry. Please know that my prices have been carefully reviewed and are now in line with other local independent salons — and still below many.
Thank you so much for your continued support and understanding. It genuinely means the world to me.

Many thanks.
Jemma & Nicky 💚

What a year 2025 has been ... but we done it 💪🩷🎅🎄

Thankyou so much to all of you for being so understanding and flexible with your appointments and supporting Jemma Pickett's Hair Salon.

Going thru a year of grueling cancer treatment starting with fertility treatment and egg collection to 16 chemotherapys, 100s of hospitals appointments, 1000s of blood tests , immunotherapy, flu , x2 surgerys, physio , radiotherapy and lots more inbetween along side running a business hasnt been easy. And stil not over yet !

I have worked as many hours as possible thru this journey and probably still more hours than most but I couldn't have done this last year without nicky! She has been my absolute business queen . Cleaning animals , cleaning the salon , sorting my clients for me and running my business when I couldn't. The good news is she has definitely passed the test of being part of the business and is here to stay!! 🎉🩷

Thankyou so much to all of you for ur continuous love and support over the last year if it wasn't for all of you I wouldn't be where I am today. Experiencing that journey in my life I never thought I would go on and running a business along side it hadn't been easy but we did it together 🩷

My journey does carry on in 2026 but no way near as full on as 2025 but my body has been thru alot this year so I need to look after what I have and will be sticking to less hours.

2026 we will be having a few changes to the business so keep a eye out for updates 🥰

Thankyou so much again for supporting my business and thankyou so so much for all are cards , tips and xmas prezzies 🥰❤️

Merry christmas and happy new year 🎉🎄🎅❤️

💚 Salon Update 💚

❤️🎄And a christmas explosion 🎅❤️

Apologies for being so quiet! I’ve mainly been updating my breast cancer journey page so as not to bombard everyone with updates if they didn’t want to see them.

As many of you know, throughout my cancer journey over the last 11 months, I’ve continued working even through my intense chemotherapy.

I ended up having two surgeries in the end — the first being a lumpectomy and lymph node removal of seven nodes. I returned to work after a four-week recovery but was sadly only back for eight days before needing the second surgery. The second surgery involved a longer recovery time, as it was a full lymph node clearance in my left armpit. I’ve been off work for six weeks recovering, but I returned last Thursday on reduced hours. It was all worth it though, as after the second surgery, I GOT THE ALL CLEAR!

I’ve been very lucky to have Nicky by my side in the salon throughout my journey. She has done a great job looking after my customers and keeping the salon running for me.
Nicky isn’t just cover while I’m on this journey — she’s a permanent addition to the salon and is taking on new customers alongside her existing ones, as well as helping out with mine.

I have to re started my immunotherapy last week which will be every six weeks into the new year. My radiotherapy journey starts in the last week of November. I will be having radiotherapy on three different areas and as I am part of a trial, instead of having it every day for three weeks, I’ll have treatment every day for one week, at three times the intensity! I may experience some side effects and fatigue, which could affect my working days and appointments. Not the best timing with the Christmas hair rush, but it can’t be helped.

I’ll do my best to carry on through this, just as I have with the other treatments, but I have to put myself first for a change and listen to my body!

Thank you all so much for your continued support and understanding .

If you still need to book your christmas hair please do as we have very limited availability between uss🎄🎅❤️

You may have noticed our Jem’s been rather quiet on here since the weekend!
So thought we would give everyone a little
Update so she’s not flooded with messages asking why shes so quiet.

Jem went to hospital to get checked over on Sunday as she felt generally unwell, she was in hospital all day on Sunday having various blood tests, ECG, chest xray etc. They pumped her full of antibiotics and fluids and diagnosed her with something called Flu B. 😵‍💫 sent her home and told her to monitor temperature and heart rate closely and she’s in isolation.
They did tell her she would get a lot worse before she gets better … and they weren’t wrong!
This has absolutely floored her 😔 even to have a drink and keep her eyes open for a long period of time is draining. She’s also been really sick at the same time as flu symptoms, but luckily the anti sickness tablets she’s been given have started to help with that.
Her Chemotherapy was cancelled for today as her body isn’t strong enough at the moment but hopefully with lots of rest she will improve very soon and be able to start the new chemo so she can carry on smashing her journey.

As we know Jem has been an absolute trooper through all of her treatment so far and the hundreds of other appointments and ordeals she’s had thrown her way. She’s taken everything on the chin and found a positive in everything.
With her immune system being at an all time low I think she’s done amazing to get to this point and dodge all the germs.

But for now she’ll be a little off radar while she rests and recovers 🩷

Ps - she’s given me permission to post these selfies!! As you know there’s no filters on this page, she shares the good , the bad and all the bits in between 💪🏼
