Good Afternoon 🌟🌟
One of the primary ways a posture massage can help is by restoring balance to the muscles. Many postural issues are caused by imbalances in our musculature: this means that some muscles may be overly tense and tight, pulling parts of the body out of alignment, while others may be weak and underactive. A massage can work to relax tight, overworked muscles and stimulate weaker, underused ones, helping to restore balance and improve posture.

A massage stimulates your nervous system; wakes up your muscles, organs, and glands; moves blood and lymph fluid, and gets multitudes of cells to produce and release chemicals and hormones. Your body needs a massage to renew itself and reverse the effects of stress.

Massage used to only be available at high-end spas or health clubs. Some people viewed it as a luxury for the wealthy or a code word for illegal activities. Now massage is widely available and viewed as an important tool in promoting mental and physical health.
Massage is a general term for pressing, rubbing and manipulating your skin, muscles, tendons and ligaments. Massage may range from light stroking to deep pressure. It's generally considered part of integrative medicine.
A common misconception about massage is that it's only part of a spa day and intended for pampering yourself. While this may be true for some people, it is most frequently a tool for stress reduction and pain relief.
Some specific conditions that massage can help include:
Anxiety
Depression
Digestive disorders
Fibromyalgia
Headache
Insomnia
Nerve pain
Postoperative care
Scar tissue
Soft tissue strains and injuries
Sports injuries
Temporomandibular (TMJ) disorders
Physical benefits of massage include:
Improved circulation
Decreased muscle stiffness
Decreased joint inflammation
Better quality of sleep
Quicker recovery between workouts
Improved flexibility
Less pain and soreness
Strengthened immune response
Mental benefits benefits
Lower stress levels
Improved relaxation
Improved mood
Decreased anxiety
More energy
Increase feeling of wellness
After a massage
It's common to feel relaxed, tired or even sore after a massage. This is because your muscles are being worked by the massage therapist. After a massage, it may feel like you completed a workout. It is possible to experience a headache or nausea after a massage.
Some people think that massage must hurt to help. But a massage doesn't need to be painful to be effective.

Massage can be for relaxation purposes. Relaxation can come in both psychological and physiological forms. Psychological relaxation refers to the reduction in stress hormone release such as cortisol. A reduction of cortisol within the blood will allow the individual to feel a reduction in anxiety, stress and depression. Physiological relaxation refers to the increase in tissue flexibility and elasticity. A reduction in tension can allow the people to feel a reduction in pain and increase their range of movement and flexibility.
Massage can be extremely beneficial for people with mental health problems prior to a stressful event. Stressful events for an individual with mental health issues can include interviews or a first day at a new job. During periods of stress the body increases the release of cortisol, a hormone associated with stress, anxiety and fear. Low levels of cortisol can enable the individual to become alert, attentive and observant during the "fight" or "flight" response. Prolonged periods of high cortisol levels can leave people feeling anxious, stressed and even depressed. Massage can be used to inhibit the production of cortisol which can enable you to feel relaxed and calm. Massage can also be used following a stressful event e.g. following a work presentation, first day at the new job or exam. Following stressful situations the body will have experienced a sudden increase in levels of adrenaline, cortisol and norepinephrine which are all stress related hormones involved in the body's "fight or flight" system. Although stress hormones can be beneficial within stressful situations to become alert, aware and focused, it can be hard to relax following a stressful event when such hormones are no longer needed. A massage can reduce the production of stress hormones. A reduction in stress hormone levels can allow you to feel calm and relaxed.

Massage provides many emotional benefits, which can be just as important as the physical benefits. Many people say that after a massage they feel more relaxed and calmer. It a safe and nurturing place for people to refocus and find clarity.
Massage lowers stress levels and feelings of anxiety. It improves mood and relaxation while increasing confidence and self-image.
If you experience depression or anxiety, or are just overloaded with extra stress, massage can be an effective part of treatment. It can create a sense of relief and empowerment, and allow you to focus on your mind-body connection.
As a Massage therapist I listen to your needs and concerns. I can develop a treatment plan to decrease stress and symptoms of anxiety and depression. Sessions range from 15 minutes to 2 hours in length. Therapeutic massage may help support you on your mental health journey.
