As a barber, one of the things I cherish most is the value of interaction. In a world that is constantly busy and distracted, taking the time to connect with someone on a genuine level is truly fulfilling. Every customer that sits in my chair brings with them a unique story, and it's through these simple yet honest interactions that I get to hear about their experiences. Recently, I had the privilege of hearing Chris's inspiring story about the history of his multi-generational manufacturing business here in Warwickshire. It's amazing to see how a common problem of weak hair combs led to the creation of the Lesley Comb - a handcrafted robust metal comb that became a runaway success. Today, Chris is reconnecting with his history and bringing fresh perspectives to the company. I love hearing personal, rich, and human stories because, in the end, that's all we're left with - the experience, the narrative, and the memory.

Been a minute since I dropped a brief post. I suppose thats the trials of juggling the curve balls of life whilst owning a business and parenthood.

This one ☝️ is noteworthy. Full on monster transformation from 8months of unwieldy growth to a slick ex*****on of a feathered mullet style. Mullets are pretty out there that’s for sure, and in various sub styles. Fully textured and arc faded, this cut injected a whole heap of good vibes and positive esteem for this client ready to face another year back at university.

Recruiting the next generation early.

On my journey of becoming a barber and establishing .barbering, a large part has been for me about switching off from an energy-zapping former corporate life and focusing my efforts in a craft that commands being more present as well as connected to others.

We often put so much emphasis on being occupied and doing…stuff. Caught up with thoughts of the future “what do I need to do next?”. Or tormenting over things that have happened and can’t change “I should’ve or why didn’t I?” - replaying , rethinking and overthinking.

Living in the present moment can feel difficult. Yet taking time to zero in on activity that grounds us in the present is being. It can be momentary, perhaps for a few minutes a day - focusing on our breath, sipping on a good coffee or taking a stroll and simply observing your surroundings.

Human being not just human doing.

At SHED its all about the pared back experience. Distilled to the essentials I guess. This also translates to product choices for clients, where good performance isn’t traded off by inferior materials or ingredients. Good for the scalp and soul.

Similar in ethos, the have developed a quality all natural clay styling product vegan and cruelty free to boot. Having developed a few products last year, getting the right balance is essential. Will be experimenting with this in the coming weeks to see how it holds up (pun intended!)
