I care far too much about so many things that are insignificant and temporal. What people say about my weight, what theu think about my career, friendships, the weather. In the moment these things can feel suffocating and often the pain is very real. But at the very same time, I can choose to look to Christ. It's that or these things take over and become so large that I can't see that narrow yet beautiful path. I don't want to waste the time I have been given on things like this. I share many quotes on my page. I share the things I'm learning about, but I don't share the struggles. I just assume that obviously people know we are all facing various trials (the Lord said we'd have them). But every now and then I get a snarky comment about how 'perfect' it all looks, as if I'm getting it all right - or pretending to. I am not. I do not claim to. But I am certainly trying to please the Lord. Often failing. Often needing to repent to my husband and children. But sharing beautiful quotes, and baking/ polymer or whatever, for your encouragement too. Real people, real souls, needing to encourage one another to look to Christ. To try new things. To find ways of blessing our families. To read another quote about how lovely being a homemaker is so that we can go scrub those toilets with joy. Because if I'm being honest, there are lots of moments when I'm not joyful, not doing things without grumbling and complaining in my heart. But I don't want to dwell there. I don't want to make my home there. So, I'm putting down my phone and I'm going to go bake up a storm. The sun is hiding behind the clouds, but the true light shines in the darkness of my heart and shows me what these struggles really are - temporary, fleeting, and preparing me for glory.
