I care far too much about so many things that are insignificant and temporal. What people say about my weight, what theu think about my career, friendships, the weather. In the moment these things can feel suffocating and often the pain is very real. But at the very same time, I can choose to look to Christ. It's that or these things take over and become so large that I can't see that narrow yet beautiful path. I don't want to waste the time I have been given on things like this. I share many quotes on my page. I share the things I'm learning about, but I don't share the struggles. I just assume that obviously people know we are all facing various trials (the Lord said we'd have them). But every now and then I get a snarky comment about how 'perfect' it all looks, as if I'm getting it all right - or pretending to. I am not. I do not claim to. But I am certainly trying to please the Lord. Often failing. Often needing to repent to my husband and children. But sharing beautiful quotes, and baking/ polymer or whatever, for your encouragement too. Real people, real souls, needing to encourage one another to look to Christ. To try new things. To find ways of blessing our families. To read another quote about how lovely being a homemaker is so that we can go scrub those toilets with joy. Because if I'm being honest, there are lots of moments when I'm not joyful, not doing things without grumbling and complaining in my heart. But I don't want to dwell there. I don't want to make my home there. So, I'm putting down my phone and I'm going to go bake up a storm. The sun is hiding behind the clouds, but the true light shines in the darkness of my heart and shows me what these struggles really are - temporary, fleeting, and preparing me for glory.

'Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks' 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.

I haven't made earrings in such a long time, but the other night, my daughter and I sat together and just spent some time together chatting and making. It was so lovely.

In this new homeschool year, I am reminding myself that I have so many reasons to give thanks daily and not allow busyness and responsibilities to take my eyes off of the Lord! And time with this not so little girl is very precious to me, and one of the many reasons to rejoice, be glad, and give thanks to the Lord for His wonderful gifts.

It was so lovely to do hair and make for this lady today. We were in her beautiful studio, and I got to see some of the gorgeous jewellery she has made! My favourites are her lace pieces and her acorns!

My daughter took these lovely pics on Saturday - it was a winter wonderland outside. How incredible is God, He even puts such detail into tiny ice crystals that only last for a few hours.

Hello and welcome here! My name is Nicolene, and I am a wife and mother of four precious children whom I also get to homeschool. I am South African and live in the Midlands in England. Each day is filled with many things to do, and at times, it is certainly challenging, but I am deeply thankful to call this my home and my work.

I am so grateful to have recently qualified as an image consultant and stylist at the South African Image Academy! I have been doing makeup for many years and also did hair styling for special occasions. I am also very thankful to have a teaching degree because I love to teach and share what I learn.

I believe wives and mothers are engaged in hard work that requires daily self-sacrifice. Whether it is at home raising little ones, at work, preparing meals, taking care of sick children, teaching children to form their letters, being involved in school activities, and often a whole lot more each day - it all takes determination and a lot of energy. The work is hard, but it is glorious and filled with blessing and sanctification along the way.

And each woman involved in this work is a unique individual made in the image of the Creator, with so much to offer. Hair, make-up, styling, and taking photos with my phone - I had ridiculous amounts of fun doing this shoot with my very own darling daughter. We went to the local Next store and had a proper play! (We both put vouchers on our Christmas list. 🤭 ) There are some really pretty items in store with loads of options to look comfortable but stylish.

Styling is something that I never thought I'd enjoy this much, but I think reading so many books must have sharpened this imagination. 🤓 And my girl is the same - always has her nose in a book and this mommy is absolutely fine with that!

Why does wearing the right colours matter?
Take a look at these 2 photos and see the difference in my skin tone. I clearly look more yellow when I wear the wrong colour, whereas the right colour brings out the pink in my cheeks and makes my eyes brighter.

I found these photos so fascinating because I took them right after each other and could clearly see how the colours I was wearing reflected light onto my face in completely different ways.

I have used NO filters and no editing to show you this difference.
