HAIRDRESSERS... ARE YOU UNDERESTIMATING THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE APPOINTMENT?
For me, there's one part of a hair appointment that nearly always leaves me wanting more... the head massage at the basin!
It's often too short, the pressure isn't quite right, or it feels like a few quick movements before moving on to the next stage.
But here's the thing - hairdressers aren't massage therapists, so why would you automatically know about pressure, rhythm, hand positioning and how to create a proper massage sequence if you've never actually been taught?
And scalp massage isn't just about relaxation.
Massage can help increase blood flow to the
scalp and temporarily improve circulation around the hair follicles.
It helps relax tension in the scalp and
surrounding muscles.
It can support a healthy scalp environment
as part of good scalp and hair care.
? And, of course, it feels AMAZING!
While scalp massage shouldn't be advertised as a treatment that makes hair grow, there is some early research suggesting regular scalp massage may have benefits for hair thickness — another reason why good technique matters.

I have had a nightmare today with our broadband and telephone services at the salon….. we are now waiting for a new line to go in…. This will not be activated till the 28th September and also means our telephone services won’t be working either…. All set up and ready for our very first Japanese Head Spa training day at All About You on Monday! 🤍
It’s so lovely to see everything coming together, and I’m really looking forward to welcoming our first students.
